Topic: Three Graduation Pictures

Dear Family

Dondra and I wanted to share these memories of my grandson Julian's special day. I hope this isn't against the rules, but after reading your messages to our grandson we both felt it important we include in a small way, you; our friends who have seen us through some very rough times, and have treated us like family. Thank you for being a part of a happier day.

The first picture from left to right: Me, Julian William Craig (all 6'4" of him) and the proud "Omie" Dondra .

I hesitated before posting this next one because of its emotion, but here again - you're all family,
"So why not?" I thought.

Looking closely, you'll see a letter held by our grandson and if you look more closely, you'll see Julian is crying. He has just read the letter his late father wrote many years ago for this day. Even I didn't know Dondra had it, and wondered why we needed to go to the our bank's security drawer earlier in the week.

And finally, the future Mr. and Ms. Juilan and Sara Craig. Yup. They're engaged and waited until last evening to let us know. I'll let y'all figure that one out. wink smile

Thanks again for "having our backs" through the hard times. Neither of us would have ever thought, we'd be so fond and highly thought of by our international friends and musicians here on CHORDIE

Re: Three Graduation Pictures

My oh my, Bill ...

These slices of your family's achievements and hopes have warmed my heart immensely. The height difference between Julian and  Sara will be a topic of discussion throughout their whole lives. I'm speaking from experience, because I too am 6'4" and my dear Janie is 5'2". See if you can get them to try out a Teeter-Totter together ... it's a hoot, because her feet will never touch the ground.

You deserve to be proud and grateful !

Re: Three Graduation Pictures

pride is a sin....but i don't feel the least bit sinful for feeling the pride and happiness i'm experiencing thanks to you and Dondra and of course Julian.

Many congratulations on Julian and Sara's engagement. it seems your happiness and joy is boundless after the rotten times you've had of late. soak it up my friend and lets hope the joy continues for you and yours.

i don't have a clue what a "Teeter-totter" is?

It's a two-person piece of playground equipment ... you may have a different name for it in the UK

Re: Three Graduation Pictures

If y'all would  be interested, please take another look at photo #3. Those are his dad's Harley-Davidson boots Julian is wearing. Just a side-note; when Julian came to visit us during  his Summer break from school, those two were inseperable either working on or riding their mountain bicycles together during the day or watching space movies together.

During those times, I would wait "patiently' for "my" turn to be with my grandson and jam a little with the guitar and amp I had gifted him a couple of years before - for Christmas. He hadn't forgotten and we did spend a total of one hour of "private time" together before he went back home to his Mom's. I know exactly why I felt that little bit of jealousy: While Jason was growing up,  his Dad was busy with his broadcast news career. I feel  ashamed about those "When's it gonna be my turn?" times, but now I am happy those two enjoyed every second they had together.
