LOL   I was thinking this whole time it was Perth USA or Perth  Scotland

Re: December Letter To My Chordie Friends

I'd like to add my wishes to you all for peace and joy over the coming season and new year. Peatle, hope you get well enough soon to hit the high notes on you're chosen instruments.
I didn't realise there was a Perth in the US? There is a small town in Australia named Llanelli after my home town, I wonder if they have a rugby team called the Scarlets?

Ask not what Chordie can do for you, but what you can do for Chordie.

Re: December Letter To My Chordie Friends

Dondra and I also wish to add to Peatle's greetings to you all, and we both would like to add that had it not been for our family here on Chordie we wouldn't have had much support at all . At times like this, people tend to leave one alone thinking that is what we want, or they are too embarrassed to say anything. It is a true measure of fellowship and "family" that you do not feel this reluctantance and know to appreciate and love you for that.

We both are very grateful to all of you who wrote such wonderful messages of encouragement to help us through our time of bereavement.

Special note to Dondra's "boyfriend',  Roger (;)  : should you wish and have time  to do so, she would like you to call (so would I) as you have done, and just check on her and fill both of us in on your activities since we spoke. This goes for any of the rest of our family too! Let me know and I'll set up a time when we'll be home. Please do not feel obligated to do this, however. We both know how you feel about us and to be liked and loved by you is just the best Christmas present we could receive. I can send our new phone number to you. Just let me know.

You guys and ladies have been very busy composing, and I plan to start tonight to listen and comment.

We send our best wishes and love at this special time of year!

Re: December Letter To My Chordie Friends

Bill this is a good Christmas present having you back.
Neo up where you are in Western OZ will be real hot ?
Phill my playing is a struggle on piano and guitar. . Hoping in the New Year to get rid of the pain. The doctors tell me the pain will go but my movements will never be a hundred percent. I am enjoying life and my singing is bad as it  always has been.
C G how is your Banjo playing going? I love Bluegrass music.
Moderator I have just realised I posted this in the wrong section. Sorry about that.

Re: December Letter To My Chordie Friends

I played 3 concerts recently and played banjo on the first one with someone I had taught and he came up and we played dueling banjos for the first song. It turned out to sound as it should. To be honest it is a banjo with a classical neck and nylon strings and since it is a 6 six string nylon string banjo. It sounds like a banjo but more mellow than a steel string banjo. My former student goes to the university where I was doing the concert and having Jeff playing the first song with me surprised some of his classmates.  Other than that I have played at home for some folk music just for fun.

Re: December Letter To My Chordie Friends

This week in the the day time Wellington New Zealand (not Wellington OZstraylia } temperature  has been around the 22C or 71F
UBJ your 39F would be 3C
Neo your 39C would be102C
Wellington is a town in inland New South Wales, Australia, located at the junction of the Macquarie and Bell Rivers. It is within the local government area of Dubbo Regional Council. The town is 362 kilometres (225 mi) from Sydney on the Great Western Highway and Mitchell Highway. Today for them it is going to be 21C or 69F.
Both Wellington's are named after   Field Marshal Arthur Wellesley, 1st Duke of Wellington whose brave people defeated Napoleon's lot at the Battle of Waterloo.
Not many people know that also the Prussian army under the command of Gebhard Leberecht von Blücher, Prince of Wahlstatt help Wellington defeat the French back in 18th June 1815 at the Battle Of Waterloo.

Re: December Letter To My Chordie Friends

looks like a beautiful area.  I was surprised to see how isolated it is.

Thanks for sharing

Happy Hanukkah (Dec 13), Merry Christmas (Dec 25), and Happy Kwanzaa (Dec 26) to everyone in the Chordie Universe.

Re: December Letter To My Chordie Friends

My oldest stepson emigrated to Oz about 10 years ago and we've visited twice. He was living in a suburb of Perth called Mandurah, which is around 60 miles away...60 miles? That's like calling my home town a suburb of Cardiff which it's not but it is 60 miles away. It used to take 2 hours to get to Cardiff, now thanks to the motorway it's just an hour. London used to take a whole day back in the 60s...ah the good old days of Lsd, that's pounds shillings an pence.

BTW, on our first Oz trip it was winter over there and summer here...it was still warmer there!

Ask not what Chordie can do for you, but what you can do for Chordie.

Re: December Letter To My Chordie Friends

Neo  I am enjoying what everyone is adding to the thread. More the merrier keep it going. I havent been to Perth but everyone I know who goes there tells me it's a beautiful city. My wife  visited Fremantle on a ship she was on and loved the place. A young guy who use to do a bit of guitar for me loves playing music in the bars around Fremantle and also in Perth itself. My friend's son  use to work out of Perth driving trucks from Perth to Port Headland. Another friend of mine son lived there and life was going good until his other half murdered their 22month old son at Hillarys Boat Harbour.  She had claimed at the time that the boy unfastened himself from his stroller while her back was turned but when police reviewed CCTV footage her story did not add up. Thats my two bobs worth on Perth.

Gosh - all I have on NZ is that my Mum went there (think it was her honeymoon), and loved it - she wanted to go back, but unfortunately the cancer came back instead and she passed in 2006.

I grew up very close to the Hillarys boat harbour, and used to go fishing there as a kid (before it was a harbour!), think I played some gigs there (at the old pub, not the new one), definitely played gigs some in Freo, and a few in Perth, never been as far North as Port Hedland, but they get to 50 degrees centigrade up there!!!

Cheers

Re: December Letter To My Chordie Friends

Thanks - that's a good video!!

I'm going to cheat (kinda) and show this video of Perth an the surrounds - it was made by a guy I used to work with, and we both had an interest in photography, he's gone on to become quite well respected, and has some of his photography in the local newspaper (frequently) and features on the Tourism WA website:

He was testing out his (newish) drone at the time ...
