Topic: New Guy Intro

Hi,
I've been using chordie for years but just decided to sign up. I am a keyboard player (gasp) and play in several groups, one of which does a lot of tunes from the 30's-40's. I use OnSong for my ipad and have several hundred songs in it, adding almost daily these days. I am 65. The music I like is Beatles, James Taylor, Allison Krauss.

I live in central Ohio, USA. I know chordie doesn't store files. If I wanted to share some chordsheets where would I do it? or should I do it at all?

Welcome to Chordie peteh.

I've never uploaded a chord sheet to a site, so I don't know where you would do that. I know that I find a lot of what I'm looking for on UltimateGuitar.com. Maybe they host. I honestly don't know.

Nevertheless, I'm sure we'll have lots of interesting musical things to talk about despite a variance in instruments and keyboardists' horrendous preference for keys with lots of flats.

I'm a bit confused by the "doesn't store files" thing too ... as I wanted to upload some of my own songs ... however if you have them in OnSong, I'd be happy to take a copy, just send me a PM smile

Zurf,

I also play bass, guitar, 5 string banjo, and uke. I can pretty much play in any key but don't do that much above 4 b's or #'s. Flats I played a lot in church, sharps I played a lot in the blues band I was in for 14 years.

I tend to write slash chords due to my limited theory knowledge. ie I would write Dm7/C instead of C6/9add4 to facilitate fingerings on the keys. I can make the former faster than I can think the latter.

I  think that leaves a lot of us out, as we use cowboy chords mostly and I tend to use a mix of the open and root5 chords LOL, sounds like you have a lot to contribute to the gang and so I say a BIG HEARTY WELCOME!

I agree with Beamer we could use some input, I am into slide blues and older rock  (Joe Walsh, Muddy Waters etc..) I think if you can upload your material to a site that hosts it all you need to do is copy and paste the address. I would like to extend a big Welcome to Chordie to you and happy holidays. smile

Hi Pete!  I live just south of you in in the Chillicothe area. Sounds like we like to listen to the same type music, and although I write a lot of songs I'm way behind your skill level in music theory.  I'm looking forward to your input in the site. Welcome aboard.
