Topic: The time is right!
Hi all, I have been hanging around here, quietly, for a long time, reading posts, listening to music, learning new old songs, laughing with you all and even shedding a tear or two at heartbreaking news. I have been playing an assortment of guitars, acoustic and electric, a mandolin and a banjo that I bought at a flea market. But....Right now I have a chance to buy a Gibson J45 standard, new, which here in Ontario Canada is $2899.00 before taxes. This will be the last guitar that I ever purchase as I have been diagnosed with an incurable lung disease and Doc says I got about 3 maybe 5 years left. In the past whenever I purchased a new guitar my children or grandchildren have got the old one .I have 3 children and 7 grandchildren and so far everybody has a guitar. That's a lot of guitars. Mind you, they have never been Martins or Gibsons or Taylors but they have been good players and they always sound good. So....I have played the J45 Guitar Center and other expensive Martins and Taylors but I found that the Gibson had the right sound for me and was and would have been at the time, my choice had I been able to afford it. My wife, bless her heart, says, do this Trev and enjoy it while you still can. So... there ya have it, my very first Gibson, and while I was writing this I fully confirmed in my mind that I will purchase a J45 this week. I was going to ask what experience any of you might have with the J45 .....and yes...I still will, so just let me know what you all think. Thanks for your time and patience today. Your friend Trevor Calhoun.
