Topic: Imaginary Prank

Wouldn't it be hilarious is we could switch Eric Claptons stratocaster for a cheap Squier. This would be just before he went on stage, same colour and in tune but I'd love to see how Clapton handled the dilemma, play on? or stop the show?

Tsk, tsk, tsk......Don't you know it's not folly to mess with God?

Re: Imaginary Prank

Clapton could put six pieces of twine on a cigar box and still rock the house.

Equipment doesn't matter when you're that good.

Re: Imaginary Prank

Your topic is so tricky. One of the most important things giving a gig like Clapton will give, are the stack of amps and speakers, who are able to blow the audience away, and the squier, in this case disguised as a black fender, can and will be more dominated by the wall of sound, add the gig-adrenaline, and it can be possible that it will give him, being a real skilled and experienced performer, that there is something wrong, but I think on a certain moment, he will notice that there is something different, BUT will the audience do?

Re: Imaginary Prank

You might be surprised at how small the setup of players like that can be, particularly if it's a more intimate player.  Bill Frissel plays through a 40W Fender.   The house system mics off of it, which is where the volume comes from.

You can have huge stacks of amps, but that doesn't always have to be the case.
