Nice arrangement of "Scream On" as we used to call it. There's a tabbed version on this site, and the opening is a challenging reach in places without a capo on the second fret. Mr. Valleau's fingering arrangement is different, but the results are terrific.

The comraderie between these two is fun, and reminds me of when my best friend Greg and I get together to jam. He's a better guitarist, but never makes me feel that way. We both enjoy music and that's what counts.

I had the enjoyment of watching Don play this live in concert on Sept. 24. He expressed hesitancy due to some "inappropriate conduct" from the Gnarls Barkley duo, and asked us to just enjoy the music, and not take his playing it as an endorsement of their behavior. I have no idea what he was talking about!

I agree, Bill ... fun to watch and listen to. I've been working on fingerstyle technique for the past year or so, and have made so little progress it's appalling.

Spencer's unique guitar was custom made for him by Jedidiah Wiebe from British Columbia, Canada. (http://jedidiah.ca) Mr. Wiebe builds his guitars from 100% re-purposed wood, so there's no waiting period for the wood to open up / breathe to get the full warmth and tone. Spencer's multi-scale / fan-fret guitar enables many alternate tunings, such as the B  F#  D  F#  B  D tuning used for "Insignificant". Dropping the E-string to a C on a regular scale guitar leaves the string too slack and floppy to be of much use.

This video is a bit dramatic with the whole B&W business, but the composition and playing is dynamite.

Michael Chapdelaine does an amazing version of this song, but I like Mike Dawes' a bit better. He somehow captures the attitude of the song's message in his playing. It's very cool how good musicians can do that ... without words.

I not only listen, I also read the comments below the upload, TF. Apparently Mr. Dawes so inspired an older gentleman who had gone through multiple cancer operations, to continue with his guitar playing. He calls himself a "wannabee" guitarist.

I am not as informed as I should be regarding guitarists such as Mr. Dawes, but watching and listening it's easy to see how his playing and his style would instill such inspiration. BRAVO!

Thanks, TIG ... Andy is quite special, for sure. My wife and I were privileged to see him in concert in September, along with finger-stylist Don Ross. It was intimidating and inspiring at the same time.

Callum's use of Delay and Reverb in this piece adds an extra ambient flair to this piece, which is both warmly soulful and hauntingly contemplative. I could listen to this type of work a LOT ... excellent creativity and technique. Still in his mid-20's, Callum is from Toronto, Canada. When he was just 22, he was listed by Acoustic Guitar Magazine as one of their "thirty great guitarists under 30". Not much doubt about that!
