"........ for the telephone Birthday greeting she received a few hours ago.

You should have seen the smile on her face while she was speaking with you, my friend!

We both appreciate your thoughtfulness in thinking of her/us and it really made our day that you did this. We do have other international friends - mostly in Germany - but since you and I are friends through our music, today's call from you was even more special.

We wish we could say thank you in person, but hope you know that, whether in person or through this medium, they are just as sincere.

Wish that Girl a Happy Birthday from us as well..... somehow I missed the memo.  But actually I'm very poor at remembering stuff like that (dates). For 32 years of our Marriage I firmly thought our Anniversary was in November..... and she still didn't Divorce my sorry self!
