ah ha! I see what you mean now! If you search specifically by ARTIST you only find one version of each song!
This page: http://www.chordie.com/song.php/songart … index.html
And even if you change the view to "all songs": http://www.chordie.com/song.php/songart … sort=songs
However, if you search either from the songs page: http://www.chordie.com/browsesong.php
Or via the search bar located on the home page, you'll get the multiple versions that are indexed.
I'm not sure why this is, I have a feeling it may have been a coding decision that was made or an oversight when the search feature was updated. I'll check with Per on this though! I did notice in particular, one of Neil Young's songs, "After the Goldrush" which just so happens to be the featured song of the month for June, is spelled with a space between Gold and Rush on the artist page and a bunch of the other versions in the index when searching by song title do not have a space. It may simply be the fact that there are so many possible differences in spelling that it was better to just provide ONE version, than to attempt to provide all "possible" versions. OR it could totally be a bug!
In the meantime though, you now know that if you are looking for a song by artist/album, once found you can search then by song to find the alternate versions! At least there IS a work around to your previous search method. I'll let ya know what I find out! THANK YOU for sticking it out in clarifying the issue you're seeing and providing a clear explanation.
