I"m trying to document for others--particularly those who have not grown up around instruments or may have failed (like me) my progress in hopes to encourage others. If I am posting these in the wrong area--please just let me know and I pull them down when I'm back on here! I'll also be sure to check out the other areas as well----AND the mandolin! Just a warning that all of these are poorly recorded, poorly edited and poorly played!! hahaaha, so I don't hurt anyone's ears!
First video playing the cover song: You Are My Sunshine after owning the ukulele for 12 hours ---------> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OI-MJmPiC5Q
Second video playing an original song I wrote, The Emoticon Song after owning for 2 days ---------> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uj_zoCchx9M
Third video playing another original song I wrote, Fall Down after owning for 5 days -----------> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bRh4qNHg24s
(unashamed addict here!)
5 days! That's AWESOME! Fantastic job Kim!
I think the big issue with guitar, that I'm guessing doesn't happen as much with the UKE, is as soon as you start learning something and are DYING to practice, your fingers start KILLING! Then there's a big back and forth between trying to find time to practice, wanting to learn as fast as possible, but being in pain. Chord shapes can be quite a bit trickier too. I think the UKE is a GREAT idea for a starter stringed instrument. If/When the time comes and you're ready to move to a guitar, I suggest something with nylon strings. They're far more forgiving with the pain factor, allowing you to practice more. Of course, there's plenty to learn on the UKE I'm sure!
Keep playing, and don't give up! A lot of us have links to our music locations in our profiles. This is my YouTube page: https://www.youtube.com/user/mekidsmom I've got some stuff on SoundClick as well here: http://www.soundclick.com/bands/page_mu … ID=1094680
I haven't really added much in a while (other than New Years), but should you wish to watch the entirely LONG "Backyard Gathering" video on YT, you'll get to see some Chordie Peeps! Roger, Uncle Joe's Band, Dirty Ed, as well as the crew here (myself, Mekidsdad - my hubby, MekidsGramps - my dad he's not relly on chordie though, and mekidsKids! ha ha). There will be another backyard gathering in Rural Upstate NY planned for this summer.... adding a UKE to the rotation would make for some good harmony! (hint hint... wink wink)
