Re: Your Dream Guitar?

I have mine. A Gretsch White Falcon. Got it in February after wanting one since the early 80s. Got it due to awful circumstances.

I have mine too. Gibson ES335. Although to be honest I don't play it nearly as much as my cheaper instruments!

Re: Your Dream Guitar?

i always lusted after a rickenbacker like john lennon's, it was so disappointing when i tried one. i now fancy one like mark knopfler got made for him by an american luthier, he was so delighted by it that he wrote a song about him....only i cant remember his name...it's my age you know?

Ask not what Chordie can do for you, but what you can do for Chordie.

Re: Your Dream Guitar?

I'd like a doghouse bass, but I really like the guitars that I've got.  A J45 isn't out of the question, though.

Re: Your Dream Guitar?

A friend of mine in the 70s played this beauty. I thought it was too bulky but after he plugged it in I fell in love. Few guitars at this time had the quality of finish this baby flashed. We all can dream!

Re: Your Dream Guitar?

As far as an electric guitar mine was a Renaissance  Nylon String Guitar. It one guitar that Lindsey Buckingham uses on certain songs. I bought  one a year ago and use it when it when I fill in with a band. I have to admit it is a real gem as far as play ability and sound.  Here is a link:  http://www.rickturnerguitars.com/nylon- … hybrid.php

Re: Your Dream Guitar?

I've actually got it, they're fairly new in the market and they're actually rated as a Parlor guitar ( Slightly smaller in length ) but man what a sound, It's called a Little Sister made by a small Luthier  shop at the time located in Israel.  All old school craftsmanship. Only computer in the place is a calculator  Brazilian Rosewood Fret Board, Honduran Mahogany neck Beautiful maple body's with your choice of the most beautiful tops they wind their own pickups in house P 90's and Humbuckers, If you just google B&G GUITARS , the web page comes up with all the info, The first few years they were running between roughly$ 3,600 - $ 4,850 depending on the upgrades, Now they've contracted with a company that cam produce a cheaper version $ 1,500 called the cross roads which also sounds and looks awesome the top dollar upgraded ones are still being produced in Israel lots of videos on you tube about these baby's check 'em out even if just to dream. Dont cost to look.

Re: Your Dream Guitar?

Welcome to Chordie, EDG15 ...

I just spent some time on B&G's site, and they are indeed making some impressive guitars ... never heard of them until your post. Thanks! The smaller body must make it very comfortable, and the chambering would give it a unique tone, especially with the P90's in it. Very warm, I would think.

Re: Your Dream Guitar?

I am thinking of buying Epiphone PPEG-EGL1VSCH1 Vintage Sunburst! I think it would be perfect for me as for the beginner.

Re: Your Dream Guitar?

That's a terrific choice for a beginner guitar, Alex. As your skills grow and your knowledge of guitars increases, you may wish to upgrade to something more elaborate ... but I love my Epiphone. Great quality for the price!

Jerome ...

That Peterson is stunning! I'm a real fan of natural woods, and that beauty has all of the right appointments to go with. The rosewood collars around the pickups are a classy touch, as well as the whole bridge assembly. Very nice!

I've been drooling over a Duesenburg,  the Mike Campbell series.  I can only hope they play as good as they look.

Re: Your Dream Guitar?

Bluejeep ...

They are beautiful, as you say ... wow! I like the pickup combo, with a P-90 at the neck, and a humbucker at the bridge. Coupled with the semi-hollow design, it should have a nice warm, fat tone coming out of it. Not cheap, are they?

Re: Your Dream Guitar?

My dream guitar would be an OM size acoustic built by Wayne Henderson of Rugby Virginia. Its not an electric but as Wayne was once quoted as saying "Guitars are like vacuum cleaners - if you plug them in they suck".  I'm told there is a 10-year waiting list for one of his guitars but any guitar good enough for Norman Blake, Doc Watson, Tommy Emmanuel or Eric Clapton would surely be worth waiting for.

Of course, putting one of his hand-built beauties in my hands would be like putting a $100 saddle on a $!0 horse.

Re: Your Dream Guitar?

Great vids, TIG ... these master luthiers are a breed apart, and the passion they have for their craft is both inspiring and intimidating.

DE ... just have to say that I don't at all agree with Mr. Henderson's assessment of electric instruments. I happen to love both acoustic & electric ... they're different animals, which allow a player to express themselves in different ways. He's mainly a bluegrass guy, so I'll just take it from whence it comes. smile

Re: Your Dream Guitar?

The guitar is a fretted musical instrument that usually has six strings. The sound is projected either acoustically, using a hollow wooden or plastic and wood box (for an acoustic guitar), or through electrical amplifier and a speaker (for an electric guitar).
