Topic: starting the 'read down facility

I have downloaded songs on to my laptop (not an android device). I cannot then get it to move down to read the song at my pace. How do I do this.

Re: starting the 'read down facility

Hello and welcome Ken.  I assumed you were refering to the auto-scroll feature, just checked mine and it does not appear to be functioning. I don't use it so it's not a problem for me. I'm sure someone will be along shortly to help figure it out.

Live in the "now" - a contentment of the moment - the past is gone - the future doesn't exist - all we ever really have is now and it's always "now".

Hi Ken and welcome to Chordie,

I have just checked songs, in My Songbook and songs from the library, and the 'Auto-scroll' is working fine for me on my laptop running Windows 10. You say you have downloaded the songs to your laptop but the 'Auto-scroll' will only work within Chordie, once you take them out of Chordie there is no 'Auto-scroll'.

I have just got a guitar and trying to learn. Im 51 and decided to try.  This site was recommended to me. I understand the chords,  but on some songs its just numbers. I would ve obliged if you could explain  how this works. Thank you

Re: starting the 'read down facility

Hi John and welcome to Chordie,

What you are looking at is 'tabs' which is a way of showing you how to pick out a melody with individual string for people who cannot read music. The 6 lines represent the six strings of your guitar and the number is the number of the fret you play it at for the desired note.

It is probably easier to stick to chords to start with smile.
