Bitter Tears. Undefined

[D] She sucked me [DaddBb] in and I [Em7] couldn't get [G] out. (D SHAPE CHORDS)

[Cadd 9] Seems I've [Em7] been here [D] before.

[D] I've wasted [DaddBb] money and I've [Em7] wasted [G] time.

[Cadd9] Things I [Em7] haven't got to [D] spare.

[Bm] Nights of [F#aug] tears and [DaddE] dreams have [E] burned.

[G] What is [Gm] left to [D] taste?

[Bm] Bitter tears, [E] bitter tears.

[Em] Nothing [G] tastes the [D] same.

[D] I feel a [DaddBb] fool yet they [Em7] tell me [G] don't.

[Cadd9] It's my [Em7] journey to the [D] grave.

[D] All I [DaddBb] wanted was a [Em7] life with [G] her.

[Cadd9] Her dreams [Em7] took her somewhere [D] else.

[Bm] Nights of [F#aug] tears and [DaddE] dreams have [E] burned.

[G] What is [Gm] left to [D] taste?

[Bm] Bitter tears, [E] bitter tears.

[Em] Nothing [G] tastes the [D] same.

Re: bitter tears

i have to apologize to TIGs for pinching his Cadd 9 chord, i tried it and i loved it.

also for some reason chopro has put my Dadd Bb chord as a D!. i play it by adding the Bb on the on the G string
sounds complicated....it's not or i couldn't play it lol

Re: bitter tears

Now, Phill; smile You know you have to put this on SoundCloud for me and Dondra to hear it, right? It reads like it will be a great tune!

Re: bitter tears

thanks BGD, you know how it is; you pick up the guitar, just for a strum, then you end up playing a nice chord progression then words come...etc etc etc

Re: bitter tears

hi grah, thank you, it was meant to be just a demo till i got an arrangement worked out, so the acoustic and vocal were done together, which is not the way i normally do it, but i think it sounds OK? i was thinking about another verse and/or a bridge, but the guitar and piano solos won. and i thought 4 + minutes was enough

Re: bitter tears

AH! Caught it. Notes left for you on the Cloud, my friend. Wonderful tune and as I wrote in the comments: "Bitter" indeed.

Autobiographical? If so, I hope the hurtful _____ gets to hear it and even better, gets it. wink

Re: bitter tears

Phill,
Fabulous sound with guitar.... voice has a smattering of heartbreak in it... makes the listener hear your pain !
Just the simple words of the chorus... bitter tears, bitter tears - " shakes the soul "   the way you delivered it.

I can imagine you doing this on one of your weekend sets for an audience - and bringing them from a chattering crowd ... to stunned silence by the end of the song.... to a standing ovation !  I know I'd be up  and cheering !!  You know you got a winner of a song when the listeners are excited at the end of a sad song ! smile

Excellent song, my friend - I think one of the best, if not the best I've heard here on chordie.  Probably why it took so long to put together.
It's going on my playlist !
Thanks so much.

Re: bitter tears

hi bill, it's not actually me but my second son (i have 3 and a daughter) he's had quite a bit of strife in his grown up life. this one is about his first love, they got together in their teens, sounds familiar bill? had 2 kids then split up. 15 years or so later they got back and had a third child. everyone gets rough patches but she suddenly upped and left with the kids and all the house furnishings. a year later and she's returned with all the  chattels apart from the 2 older kids whom she blames for the walk out .

the rest of the family blame her as a devious "female canine" wink and know that sooner or later she'll walk out again.

as you can see this is playing on my mind and if you look back at my scribblings over the past year you'll see that this is not my first rant.

i don't know why i'm telling you all this and i apologize if i'm boring you with my troubles and personal life, but like bill i feel you are all friends

Re: bitter tears

big thanks jim, what a review!

if you read the post above to bill you'll see why the voice had pain in it. i cant see me performing it live....it took me the best part of an hour to work out and record the solo to my satisfaction. so not much chance of me reproducing it live.

thanks for listening and commenting

I wish I knew how that was lol. I'm a horrible songwriter.

Re: bitter tears

That's terrific work, Phill ... each part is fantastic, and the "whole" is even better. Like BGD I'm not a good songwriter. I've tried putting tunes to my poetry, but somehow it just doesn't sound "original", if that makes any sense.

Nicely done!

Re: bitter tears

Awesome Phill, really nice .... the whole thing, great listening to it.

Re: bitter tears

Nice job Phill I liked the chorus guitar and the guitar break your voice is always good.
I was waiting for some some drums to kick in somewhere I guess they were not needed.
The stereo effect was good though the headphones.
Well done
Tony

Re: bitter tears

thanks for the listen and comments.

ark, it wasn't meant to have half the stuff that got on there, just acoustic and the lead bit. after i posted the song i added strings for my CD version "on sale at your local tesco".....i wish lol

thank you very much jandle, we aim to please anyone know how to do an upside down smiley? big_smile

TF, it makes a lot of sense, i hate it when i get to the end of a song just to find that the eagles did it first smile but keep trying, you and BGD, if i can help, let your fingers do the walking smile
