Looking for work in the music world? Just guessing as this is a music site. I would think you could take talent almost anywhere in the world and find some kind of employment performing or writing, or just backing up some small band.
Keeping in mind that you have presented two choices (only) and the current state of the economy globally....... I'm with Dino, start close to home and work out. It is not cheap to travel.
