Topic: For Bill, my furry family
Silkie has been with me the longest. She was dumped over a friends wall in March 2012 when she was about 3 months old. Very much an outdoor cat who only comes home for food and to sleep when it is cold outside:
She plays a pretty mean guitar too:
Here is Poppet. She lived with an old lady who had 14 dogs but Poppet was the favourite and the only indoor dog. The old lady went home to Germany and left a friend of mine to look after and feed her pack but whilst away she was taken ill and put in a nursing home never to return to Portugal. Poppet is four and a half and has been with me since November 2013:
Bambi came to me in in February this year after I lost my 21 year old cat. She was being looked after by one of the local rescue organisations who were struggling to find her a home as it is not so easy with older cats. Her passport has her birth date in 2001 but I do not think she is that old. She is very much a house cat who only goes out when she needs the loo and likes nothing better than to get under the bed covers with me and sleep in my arms:
Bella is the newest family member and has only been with me a couple of months guestimate birth in 2012. She had been found abandoned, abused and starving in a local town but has various condition that was making her difficult to home. She has leishmaniose, a condition transmitted by mosquitos, but it is under control with regular medication. She is also epileptic, the vets are not sure whether this is due to having distemper earlier in her life or a result of the bullet lodged in her skull that is unsafe to remove. She is on a daily dose of phenobarbitone for this. In spite of her problems and mistreatment she is the gentlest girl you could ever meet:
