Love that voice Phill
sounds like a guy brought a woman into the country to marry - after she got there --- she wanted more - dumped him - didn't need him any more - even though he loved her massively
good music and voicing though Phill - you still got it man !!
Nicely put together & performed, Phill. The subject seems to be the all-too-familiar story of most human relationships, i.e., the "what's in it for me" attitude. For what it's worth, I feel that's diametrically opposed to what true love is.
It could also be about a girl that had married for the money and now she's been with him long enough, she is going to take him for all he is worth. Either way she married him under false pretences and he got burnt. Great song.
hi guys, thanks for the listen.
jim, you're right on the money. i know several guys that have gone to thailand for a holiday and come back with a wife. not all of them play around or dump their saviour but some do. i also (for some unknown reason) get emails asking if i'd be interested in a eastern european girlfriend! yeah right, at my age, i think not
it could also pertain to money for marriage as beestie suggests. i'll have to put the words up maybe they'll explain it better.
hi TF, i did it (mostly) in one go, guitar and vocal minutes after finishing the write so there are a few bum notes and fluffed chords. electric piano, strings and voices were an afterthought. i didn't realise it was 5 1/2 minutes long till after i'd finished!
thanks EB, it felt like it could do with a bit of wellie
sorry for the Bminors
Over here we have a law that says after you have lived with someone for two years you are entitled to half of their assets unless you sign a prenup. It can get really messy as who wants to ask a girl to sign something at the beginning of a relationship suggesting what will happen if things go wrong.
We have very similar co-habitation laws in Canada, Beestie ... it's called "Common Law" here. I'm an old-fashioned buzzard who's been married to the same wonderful gal for +36 years, so some of this seems a bit odd to me. Just a reflection of my age, not a judgment on how things are now.
