Re: Queen of California

Are you talking about the song by John Mayer? If so, there are several versions of differing complexity at www.tabcrawler.com which may help. I don't know the song, but from looking at the tabs it does look quite complex to play & sing it at the same time. Got several I also struggle with in that regard. sad

TF yes... I have good tabs but it's a huge pain in the butt!!!!

Re: Queen of California

I admire those select few guitarists who can sing while playing fairly complex guitar at the same time, even when the vocal notes and guitar notes are completely different. Mark Knopfler (Dire Straits), Andy Latimer (Camel), Andy Powell (Wishbone Ash), and especially Nick Barrett (Pendragon) blow me away with this ability.

Another week, and you'll have that thing picked into submission!

Bgd great song, I am not sure about the chords looks like main ones are c,g.dm. I think the little extra he is putting in is tapping the e string and also with a c or g chord. I do it a lot with my pinky like he is. Kinda like James Taylor style./ (that's what made a lot of his tunes sound better).

Re: Queen of California

After some research, and regardless of the capo he's playing G (thumb is fretting the bass note), hammer on C, then Csus to C. Then the b section is C / riff/ d / C add9.

And yes TF I'm close...I can play it fine now, just getting the vocal phrasing dialed in.

I've moved on to Neon. Another BEAST. And the first time I've ever played in drop C.
