Chordie looks great...but y not add a section for beginners and people who want to learn music and discuss all newbie stuffs.

Hi there Markeden!  Welcome to Chordie! 

I can assure you (from personal experience) that Chordie is a great place to visit if you're new or seasoned!  The Chordie membership is very helpful and kind, and won't make you feel silly for asking newbie questions either if you have any.  I believe one of my first posts here was about cutting my fingernails to be able to play, and with a nearly all male group here, not one of them made me feel silly about it!

Hope right into the forums and introduce yourself in the Chat corner.  If you're not sure where to post a question - acoustic or chat corner are good choices.  Be sure to check out the stickies at the top of each forum. 

Again - welcome to Chordie!

Welcome to Chordie, Markeden!

I note on your website that you're from Leicester in the UK, and we have a number of very knowledgeable members in your country. Mekidsmom (or MKD as we often refer to her) has given you some great tips on how to benefit from the collective know-how on Chordie. In addition, the Music Theory forum is useful, if you're looking for depth. There are also two on-line series of very good guitar courses that many of us have made use of, which you also may find helpful:

I need detailed instruction o how to get songs into chordie.  I have some on my computer that are in  word and pdf files.  Also where can I fine traditional country songs to download into chordie?

All the forums are beginner forums.  The overall attitude of the forum participants is that everyone has something to learn, and everyone has something to teach.  I'm sure your questions as a beginner will provide new insight to even the most seasoned player.  Never feel intimidated here.

The only place on Chordie where songs are "in" Chordie is the Songwriter forum.  All other songs are hosted elsewhere.  Chordie acts as a consolidation point, and provides some tools for manipulating songs as they appear here while still hosted elsewhere.

I can attest to the friendliness of Chordie folk first-hand; There's a reason we're known as the "friendliest website on the net", and you only have to choose one post at random and read it to see what that phrase means.

Once you get a "feel" for the forum(s), you'll note our "family" atmosphere and that we advocate the "jump right in" approach. Therefore I believe the philosophy is not to consider anyone "new". smile

We learn from each other, we help each other and we care about each other, so welcome to the friendliest place on the net, markeden. smile
