Does anyone in this world know where I can get a bridge for a wilson rappier 44?? They seem to be as rare as rocking horse ....... Please help guitar has been laid up for years and is in need of some tlc! <img src="images/smiley_icons/icon_biggrin.gif" border=0 alt="Very Happy">

Just from looking at an online photo of the Wilson, I'm wondering if a Tune-O-Matic bridge (like for a Gibson SG or Les Paul) wouldn't work as a substitute:

A number of on-line companies like All Parts sell them, and I would think a half decent luthier could replace it and set it up properly.
I had one of these in the 60s but the 2 pickup version ,I ended up swapping the neck for a hofner sg neck it ended up as a really nice guitar ,I think the tunamatic bridge could be an option if an original one isnt available
Did anybody notice that this thread was "dredged up" from 2006 by someone who has been banned as a likely spammer??? Granted there was no resolution offered at that time and so the question is valid...... but ?

as an aside, the rapier in TF's pic was the one that got me drooling at a shop window back in the 60's. i must have been around 12 at the time and after it had been sold i told my mother about it and she said she'd gone in to price it for me but they wanted a whole 12 pounds! which i guess was a lot of money in those days...so say lavvie. i've got a wilson bass though, and still play it. it's previous owner must have been one of those heavy metal guys with the big cross hanging round his neck as the ruts are still there...ha, ha
Wondering why It's called a "Wilson". Maybe after Don Wilson of The Ventures who, if I'm correct made his own guitars patterned after the ones the group played in the 60's? Can we see the headstock, please, TF?

PS: Just noticed you swapped the neck. I assume that means the headstock as well? Before you took it off, can you tell me if it had two notches cut in it? Because if it does, it's Don's tribute to Mosrite, the now-defunct company which made the axes the group played and I'd like to buy it from you for my music room if it's for sale

Hi Bill ... here's another pic of the Wilson Rapier 44 I found online, showing the headstock. I know appearance is a very subjective thing, but to me this looks kinda goofy:
not when your 12 TF, during those times in the 60's UK, the shadows were THE big thing, and a red electric guitar was one heluva babe magnet 
Hey Phil ... it was just the headstock I was speaking about; the guitar looks amazing. The headstock just looks too big and out of place ... but that's obviously a subjective opinion. As much as I love the quality-for-the-buck of most SeaGull guitars, I find their headstocks too small for the body size:
I don't think a regular wall-bracket guitar hanger would work with these, either.
