Now I don't think you're going to believe this, but it is true.
I did a Classics and Philosophy degree at university
I got a first in Latin, but don't expect me to remember much, that was 25 years ago.
Tempus fugit
David
Hey David's REALLY interesting!
Et tu sanguine?
paranormal's right. it IS interesting!
lol
Come on, what's the point of Latin? It's a dead language!
hmm. dead. as in "rigor mortis"?
I can't imagine any latin being in that at all......
Et tu sanguine?
paranormal's right. it IS interesting!
lol
Stop calling me "paranormal"! Please!
I'm not a freak okay, it's just an interest.
On another matter how are you? And why haven't I done my first gig yet?! Answers please!
Dead Language? You started it, dude as I seem to remember ...
Amicitiae nostrae memoriam spero sempiternam fore
Davidus
anyway, how can you enjoy good comedy without latin? conjugate the verb!
romani ite domun.
now write it out a thousand times.......
lol
People called the Romans at home they go ?
You're in detention sonny.
lol i know, i googled it, but that's what the film says. honest. first he says Romanes eunt domus!
honestly. thank god for centurions. apart from language, what have the romans ever done for us?!
You're right actually, I really only remembered the movie line.
ite is the imperitive for 'to go' , but I think you also meant domum not domun.
9 out of 10
And "Don't jostle the chosen one"
Balaenae nobis conservandae sunt!
Davidus
lol don't get me started! thanks for the grading,
ego mos addo vos an pomum , magister
ok i admit it, might just be utilising google just a bit now lol
Hi, look at my new thread, we might just need it.
cheers
David
latin is certinly not dead its a language of science and philosophy and i took latin and got to take a test called the national latin exam i got an A
sorry if that sounded like bragging
no sanguine, that's cool as. without latin, we'd not be speaking english (or bad english!) as we know it. wish i could've done latin, i'm good at languages. my french is passable, german is reasonable and just started on spanish. want to give esperanto a go, but we'll see on that.
ever thought of writing a song in latin? just a random, wine fuelled spark of an idea!
lol
how about spanish it could be called mi amor le gusta bailar in los flores
bailar is the only word giving me trouble off the top of me head. 2 ticks, google here we come...
aha! dances! i like it. just need some lyrics and a chord progression, and we got a song! bagsy half the royalties when it reaches number 1 in the spanish charts lol
ok D C G for the main bit and the line before the chorus D C G EM AM
damn, the missus wan't to go to bed. i'll attend my duties, and give that progression a whirl in the morning. sounds good in my head, gotta try it out for real!
i'll have a look at some lyrics espanol, who knows?
later dude
wish me luck
see yah
jpage_roxmysox wrote:I'm 14, and even though it's hard to find a real paying gig around the Ohio State campus area I've done a couple performances in school. The first was the junior high musical (i played a 150 year old hillbilly, a fun part, however my voice broke character.) and a couple classroom performances. (when everyone else writes poems to present, I write songs) I'm not usually nervous around crowds, but whenever I break out the guitar I start shaking, I'm not sure if it's the thrill or just me being nervous, probably a bit of both. anyway, nice topic.
cheers
~koriKeep it up and it will get easier!
JPage, if you're close to OSU then we're pretty close location-wise
