Hey Friends,
Going to be going to Iceland for some R and R this week. I will be gone nearly the whole week. Internet access will be limited. The schedule has me fishing for large brown trout and scuba diving. Wish me luck!!!

Have a good vacation BGD! Take lots of photos etc.... the Geology alone makes it worth the trip, but SCUBA? Really just because there is so much geothermal it does not mean that the water will be much above ice cold.

Have a good time,Browns are good fighters and taste good as well. They have a great lake too fish for them in your state Topaz lake it is part on neveda and part on cali and the browns there are big ,there are also two small casinos and boat rentals a hotel W/restaurant and outdoor bbqs for any one also rv friendly. I like too go there a lot. it is about 40 miles south of carson city.

There's a dry suit dive between the two continental plates. Top 50 dive site in the world!

We are just hoping that he manages to get on the ground! News is reporting another eruption of one of the Volcanos there..... last time it messed up air travel all over Europe due to the dust plumes.
BGD could be either sitting in some airport on the way waiting for a flight (camping), or wind up with an extended Holiday by not being able to get a return connection.
Fishing and Diving would be the high points.

Sounds like a great trip, BGD, I hear that the scenery in Iceland is fantastic too. I would certainly be up for fishing for large browns. Not so much the diving!

Yeah they just escalated the volcano alert to orange. Fingers crossed!

That sounds great, except for the part about being covered in lava and ash. I hope you get to go, have a great time, and catch lots of big fish.

That will make for a warmer dive!
If you go by the misnomer, Greenland is ice and Iceland is green, then diving should be fine, right?

Cold water diving is the best diving. Cold water holds more O2 than warm water so you get a much richer biosphere. It also keeps the honeymoon tourist divers out of the water, and reduces the number of "cattle boat" operators.
On my "must dive before I die" list is the antarctic ice shelf and Alaska. The only warm water spot is the Bikini Atoll.
Someday we'll win this thing...
