I'd be more concerned if there was a crack in a body or neck, a warp in a neck, or if any of the pre-routed electrical cavities were off measurement so that the "innards" won't fit.
I did a repair on one of my students Fender Squires I installed new Texas true coils and had to use my dremel to rout out the middle cavity to fit the pickup then wire the leads and grounds no problems I got a nice compliment from Stew Mack on my strat builds on Facebook so that made my day
