Topic: Show us your favourite gig photos

I  thought  it  might  be  fun to try  and  encourage  some  of  us  to  post  our  favourite  gig pics so I'll start  things  off  with a  few  shots  of  me  doing   what  I  do  best  I.E  showing  off  to the  audience .LOL.

Re: Show us your favourite gig photos

If enough    chordians  were   intrested  I'm sure  my  friend  janni who  has the   Lassion golden bay  resort    near   Sitia  would    put  a  deal together  for  every  one . We  gig    by  the  pool in summer  its  a  great  venue .

Re: Show us your favourite gig photos

Nice one! That's somewhere the Brit Chordians might be able to get to! Anyone else up for it??

If  we  have  enough  serious  enquiry's  in the  next  couple  of  weeks I'll email  him   before  I  go  back  and  see  what  sort  of  deal  he  can offer.

Re: Show us your favourite gig photos

Re: Show us your favourite gig photos

I've  sent  him a brief  message  .Janni  is  very  pro  active  re  tourism so I'm sure  he  will  take  this  idea  very  serious  and asses  the  viability of promoting  an event   like  this .Sitia  Council are  always  looking for  ways  to  promote   the  town  and  something  like  this  would probably lead  to  a  lot  of  publicity  if  handled  right.

Re: Show us your favourite gig photos

Great images of Crete! After this long cold winter, I'd love to be there.

Re: Show us your favourite gig photos

Last stage performance I did was back in High School (1974) a solo tribute to Jimi Hendrix, as part of Winter Carnival "Talent Show" night. I just did "Purple Haze", "The Star Spangled Banner", and a Hendrix-style adaptation of "O Canada". I got in major trouble with the school admin ... and haven't been on stage since. I believe the only cameras in existence back then were Kodak Brownies (LOL).

Re: Show us your favourite gig photos

I haven't done a paid gig since I was 17, and then I was 'invisible' in the orchestra pit (which was really a loft, but that's a story for another time). I did perform with a praise band for 4 years, but my wife took nary a picture so there ' s nothing to prove it.

Re: Show us your favourite gig photos

Hmmmm... Paid gig.  I sang at a wedding once with a piano accompaniment and got paid $20 for it.  I was a teenager, so that seemed like a good deal at the time.  Lol!  I busked at the local beach once and made like a dollar and change. I don't own any pictures from the wedding but there may be a video somewhere in my mother's possession, non digital of course.  I need to transfer those someday!

Re: Show us your favourite gig photos

As  this  topic  has  taken a spin in two  directions  1 its  original idea  of  showing pics  of  chordians  in action playing  live gigs and  Norms  sub  topic of  the  idea  of chordi  stock  type  seminar  in Crete could I  ask  a moderator   to  split this  topic As  I  have some info  to  share  from my  friend  Janni at  Lassion Bay hotel .He  has  just  been in touch  and said  he  thinks  it  could  be  a  very  good  idea  and  asked  if  I  can com  and  discuss  the idea when I  get  back to  Crete .
Personally   I  think  the  way  forward  may  be  to try  and  put  together a  package  holiday to  keep the  cost  as  low  as  possible Janni has  the contacts to  make  this  a  reality  and if successful  perhaps  an annual  event .
Sitia has a  fantastic selection of  top  class  musicians and music  teachers who  would also  be interested in giving seminars or workshops during  what  ever  period  the  event  was  scheduled  for .August   is when Sitia  orginises its  festival  the  Konaria  which  encompasses  all types  of  music and  art ,The  surrounding  villages  also  have  there  own   festivals  which  go  on into  the  early  hours .
If Chordians  are  intrested then we  can make  this  somthing  truly  international  .

Re: Show us your favourite gig photos

I'd love to honor your request, but have no idea how to split a thread.

Re: Show us your favourite gig photos

There's not really a way to split a topic.  Just start a new one for your gathering, and we'll keep this one on track with gig photos... or lack of them.  LOL.

Re: Show us your favourite gig photos

Does my buddy's sailboat count as a gig if he asks me to bring my guitar when I come aboard?

Re: Show us your favourite gig photos

any  performance  in public is  good  paid  or  unpaid  pro  or  open mic  what  ever  you  want .
Zurf  /Amy I  thought    there  would  be  a  split  post facility  in mod  controls ,a forum I  used  to  mod  had  this  facility  ,don't  worry  I'll  raise  a  new  post  when I  have   some  more  info    from Janni.

Re: Show us your favourite gig photos

Sorry to disappear like that, but couldn't get on Chordie in the last week. I will start another thread about the possibility of a Cretan (?) Chordie Gathering! Many thanks, Grah, for the encouragement!
Cheers!

Ok  Norm as I  said  I  have  a  meeting  set  up  to  see  if its  possible  to  put  some  sort  of  package together if  we can drum up  enough participants   then we  should  have a little  event on the  horizon .

Re: Show us your favourite gig photos

Re: Show us your favourite gig photos

Well, it has been mentioned before, Dino, but never really got off the ground. I think I'd rather meet up on a beach in Crete!
