Just an observation about movies, and how most movies are an escape from our daily routines.
Life Ain’t Like the Movies By Jeff Gilpin
December 23, 2013
Verse 1
[G]Life ain’t like the movies
Or [Em]story books that I read
Where the [C]people get in trouble
But it [D]all works out in the end.
Or they [G]get some moral lesson
Or maybe [Em]God steps in and helps them
To [C]figure out the meaning
Of [D]what their life’s about.
Chorus 1
[C]Real life’s for [D]living [G]ain’t it,
And to [C]forget or for[D]giving [G]too.
[C]Your best friend may [D]die,
And you can’t [Em]save him
Because [G]life ain’t life [D] like in the [G]movies.
Verse 2
[G]People in the movies are
Not [Em]like the folks that we meet.
[C]Plain old folk are some how
Missing [D]from the silver screen.
[G]Heroes are always handsome,
And their [Em]women nice and then some,
And even the [C]bad guys and gals
Still look [D]better than you and me.
Chorus 2
[C]Real life is for [D]plain old folk [G]ain’t it.
[C]Most with stories [D]no one wants to [G]hear,
But we still [C]gaze at movie [D]stars,
And their [Em]fancy cars and houses
Because [G]our lives are never [D]lives like in the [G]movies.
Verse 3
But [G]every now and then you’ll see
[Em]One that catches your eye
[C]From the silver screen that is
[D]Almost like real life,
But [G]most of us will look on past
To other [Em]movies more like the rest
[C]Because we get enough
Of the [D]real life every single day.
Chorus 3
[C]Real life is [D]not for movies, [G]no sir.
That’s [C]just for simply [D]living day in day [G]out.
Movies are our [C]break from the daily [D]grind,
A look out[Em]side the mediocre
[G]Real life ain’t [D]life like in the [G]movies.
