Topic: "sixteen tons" by Johnny Cash?

Hi folks. I'm new to the site & not familiar w how things are done. But, i couldn't help but notice the credits for 16 tons list JC as author. I believe that song was written by Merle Travis. i've always played it Em,C, B7, with the chorus Em,Am, w a turn around using B7. Please correct me if i'm wrong about the author.   respectfully, papabristol

At the risk of repeating myself, and others, Chordie is a search engine and she shows what is elsewhere in cyberspace. Corrections need to be directed to the hosting site whose name is show at the start of each song.

It is an educational process. Kind of like painting a fence, but sometime the fence is just too dense to paint, so you have to paint it over, and over, and over again. BTW, you are by far chordie's most patient painter.    smile

We actually have it listed on chordie by Johnny Cash as well, but I agree, the more popular version was done by Tennessee Ernie Ford.
