Topic: Office/Guitar Chairs - Is there such a thing?

Anybody else have this problem? -  You're doing some work on your home office computer but want to stop, take a break, and play your guitar for a bit of a musical stress reduction. Then as you're get your guitar ready to play you bang it against one of your chair's arms. I HATE it when that happens and I bet you all do too.

Hey, I enjoy having arms on my chairs most of the time, but I sometimes wish I could just make them disappear. That is usually about the time I feel like playing a tune or three. I did buy a chair a while back that came without arms solely for this purpose, but unfortunately the chair was very uncomfortable so my arm chair returned.

So my fellow Chordie-ans, what do you think is the best chair out there that works as both an office chair but also a good guitarist chair?

Maybe you need to come up with a design and market them. I'm sure lots of guitar players are in the same boat.

First thing that popped in my head was a chair with flip up arms like in a mini van. If I have to use my office chair to play I sit on the very front edge at an angle so I don't bump into the arm. I mostly play on my little cube stool tho.

I have the same problem with my computer chair soooooooo I wind up playing Mandolin a lot at my desk.

I sit on a padded bar stool with a back on it at my desk.

How about if you keep a steel folding chair handy. It will add about 10 seconds to your time to fold and unfold.

same here, i've now got 3 chairs, only one with arms, wont make that mistake again.

Just thinking about wackin my guitar on a chair make me cringe. I did put a crack in a 12er that way, wish I knew then what I know now, I probably could have made the repair. No "armed" chairs are permitted in the music room.

Live in the "now" - a contentment of the moment - the past is gone - the future doesn't exist - all we ever really have is now and it's always "now".

I took the left arm off my office chair about a year ago for this same reason. That way I can stayed logged in to Chordie and call up songs I want to learn, and have the gee-tar at hand to practice. I love the flip-up arm idea that Z mentions ... we're talkin' progress now!

Maybe get a small cheap guitar that will fit in your chair better.

I have an uncomfortable  desk chair with arms, and a desk chair with no arms.  both have a chunk of comfort foam on them.
