Topic: Just an Idea

I couldn't find an easy way to switch between using my slide quickly then I tried this out I placed a strip of Velcro on my slide and on my guitar where it wouldn't interfere with my fretting hand you can see it at the lower cutaway smile

Re: Just an Idea

Looks like a good idea Russell, guess you can put it on fast and remove fast?

Re: Just an Idea

You still have to be kind of fast, but looks like it would work fine

You can see all my video covers on http://www.youtube.com/bensonp1000
I have finally found happiness in my life.  Guitars, singing, beer and camping.  And they all intertwine wonderfully.

Re: Just an Idea

I can switch in a flash Velcro comes in several strengths I use the medium if I'm playing in E I pick the low note and before its done ringing I have the slide on same in all the major or minor keys smile

Re: Just an Idea

Looks like a simple yet creative way to deal with the issue ... good on you, mate! One of these days, I'm going to fool with a slide and learn how to do some things with it. Do you typically use open tuning with it?

Re: Just an Idea

I do on my Dobro electric houndog but not on my strat most of the bar chord forms serve as a guide especially D (5th fret) I just know from experience or scales which notes to play but I do lower the E to D sounds cool and bluesy with a slide when playing in D

Art and beauty are in the eyes of the beholder.
What constitutes excellent music is in the ears of the listener.

Re: Just an Idea

I only  thinking  of some  sort  of  a    pocket  or  holster   for  this  yesterday . Usualy  I  just  have  it  on  the  music  stand  , being senile  now I  cant  remember  the  words  to  most  things   but  the  problem arises when we  play  outside  and  a  gust  of  wind  shakes  the  stand  ,result  no  slide  but  a  lot  of  glass  shards  so  maybe youve  shown a  solution Russell.
Re   alternate  tuning I  use  open G both on resonator  and  Strat   for  most blues slide  work  but  standard   tuning  on my  tele  for  other  stuff ..

Re: Just an Idea

Amy thanks and Grah give it a shot remember you need the right strength of Velcro to heavy and you will not be able to remove the slide easily and don't worry about any damage to the finish the adhesive can be cleaned off with mineral spirits I plan on doing a video using my method on one of my songs soon it will show me taking it off and putting it on while I play smile
