Topic: Covers you're playing a lot

I usually toggle between playing my own songs and playing covers. Here is a list of the 5 covers that I play a lot right now. The songs I like to play vary from time to time depending on my mood and what's going on in my life, but these are what I am having the most fun with right now:

Chickens in the Garden - author unknown - fun little Yorkshire Folk song (if you need the lyrics/chords let me know) - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yAbFfieXR5U
Tonight will be Fine - by Leonard Cohen - performed here by Teddy Thompson - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8W89j6GjPDI
Promises - by Eric Clapton - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IuZkUftTwKo
Tuesday's Gone -by  Ronnie Van Zant - Original Lynyrd Skynyrd studio version http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e-f2y1QC_yg
My Old Man - By Steve Goodman - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N6BB1FbCA2I

Re: Covers you're playing a lot

We're getting ready to play a private party, and we always keep a couple of covers in our pocket, just in case.

Right now it's "The Only Hell My Momma Ever Raised" by Johnny Paycheck and "Ain't Glad I'm Leaving" by Justin Townes Earl.

Someday we'll win this thing...

Re: Covers you're playing a lot

Dublin Blues - Guy Clark
Don't Think Twice (It's All Right) - Dylan, though I knew this song first from Ramblin' Jack Elliott
Southern Cross - Stephen Stills
Clay Pigeons - Blaze Foley (also covered by John Prine)
Yer So Bad - Tom Petty

Some others too.  I do all covers, though.  I wish I could write, and I probably could if I took time and put effort into it but I just don't because of the need to prioritize things.

Granted B chord amnesty by King of the Mutants (Long live the king).
If it comes from the heart and you add a few beers... it'll be awesome! - Mekidsmom
When in doubt ... hats. - B.G. Dude

Re: Covers you're playing a lot

I can't say I play them much because I play my own originals 95% of the time, but occasionally I'll play a cover that I "wish" I'd been talented enough to write.  For example:

Never Leave Harlan Alive - Darrell Scott http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hxlhcRdbAdo
Gospel According to Luke - Skip Ewing  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-JP3-WaGc14
Everything That Glitters is not Gold - Dan Seals  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GU9qWR6Bosw
Poems, Prayers and Promises - John Denver   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jLbaRoh9wR8
The Rain - Scott Miller  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WaZ53Vv8-Jk
