Topic: Here comes that A/C# again... Any tips?

Hi Everybody-
I'm having troble with A/C#. I can't reach that far (c# on A string) with my pinky without my ring finger pulling off the 2nd fret. I'm trying to do a regular 'A' chord then stretch over to get the c#. It doesn't seem to be working... Thanks for any tips!

I did a search and found some of these variations:

X4X220

X4X250

X422X0

X422XX

I'm thinking if you want to play it X42220 you'll have to learn to barr a normal A chord with your index finger. Hard to do but maybe not impossible.

Another way is to simply cover all 3 strings in the normal A chord with your index finger, leaving enough slack by inverting the first knuckle a bit to mute the high E. Then your ring finger should reach over for the C# on the A string without a lot of trouble which would look like:

X4222X

Hope this helps.

Re: Here comes that A/C# again... Any tips?

I play the A in the 1st position with my 1st finger and use my pinky to play the C# on the 5th string 4th fret not as awkward as some of the variations since it is a slash chord A/C# the C# is the lowest note in the chord and is also present on the 2nd string 2nd fret because A has 3 sharps F# C# G# smile

can you play F#m? just leave the top and bottom strings open (if you can) and there you have it

Ask not what Chordie can do for you, but what you can do for Chordie.

ok phil...since no silly questions asked.....looking at the chord chart..................then you would play 2nd string,1st fret....and the 4th and 5th strings 4th fret...no bar.....am I understanding that correctly........could you possibly post a Tab........for us bush-beat blokes,it makes it much easier

x4222(0) It will work ust as well if you mute the 1st string. If the 1st and 6th strings are muted, You've got a useful bar chord, of the G shape, begining at the 3rd instead of the root note. (Very Hendrix like) If you play 242222 it gives you F#m7th  But use your index finger for the B,G and D strings or as a normal bar.

If you are using it to walk to or from A, and not sitting on it, you can play this:
