Topic: pieces of cotton

I wrote this while I was waiting for my PC to boot-up tonight. I decided to have a quick plonk on the piano when the riff came to me, then the words. I recorded the piano and vocal at the same time, as a demo? then decided to add 2 rhythm guitars and a lead break. It all took from start to finish an hour (give or take)

Pieces of CottonUndefined

[INTRO; C-Am-F-G X 2]

[C] Pieces of cotton – [Am] caught in the wire.

She'd been [F] running from someone.

On the [G] night that she died.

[C] No one recalls how she [Am] walked out the door.

She was [F] playing one moment.

The [G] next she was gone.

So [Dm] how can the [G] pictures [C] appear on our [Am] screens?

All [Dm] smiling and [G] happy.

But [C] she must be – [Am] screaming, now.

Please [F] find me. And [Fm] free me.

From this [Am] darkness and [Em] pain.

And [F] soon I'll be [G] happy [C] again.

Re: pieces of cotton

i didn't mean for this to be a song about a little girl being kidnapped and killed (and all the rest in between, that's just the way it turned out. i couldn't face writing the nasty bits, so it's only really half a song, but i think it's enough.
