A bout ever 2 weeks the calluses start flaking off which hang up on the strings found my cure wife's emery board light polish and as good as new

Yup, also have one of my wife's emery boards here for the same reason. Calluses are only good to a point.

Thats most likely a reason that strings sound dull along with oily skin,all that stuff on the strings can make them sound dull.
