Russell was that all you paid for the piano/synth,if so I might look into getting myself one as mine is old and the sound is not nearly as good. Is it a 61 key or a full 88?

Re: MY HEART

dino it has 61 full sized keys I did have to buy a 12 volt adapter(not included) it was 10 dollars and I also purchased a 2 yr service plan for 10 dollars the total cost was 120 dollars it has a midi connection to pc as well as a 1/4" out put for headphones or to a amp/recorder,it serves as a nice interface with my software programs(museScore,Miroslav Philharmonic) or any DAW great sound and easy to play and setup smile

Re: MY HEART

I think I am going too get myself one, thie piano is so much better sounding on your player and the price is right, do I need too run it throughh an amp? or is it equipped with speakers?,guess I should go too amazon and check it out myself.

Re: MY HEART

It has its own speakers as well as a rhythm section and 24 voices and displays the notes as you play them I find the midi connection very helpful I record my original song as i play it into my free Anvil program it creates a midi file along with the notes and the free MuseScore program converts the midi file to notes and prints out a lead sheet a nice time saver smile

Re: MY HEART

I guess I have to learn guitar first, then maybe branch out to other instruments.  I envy you guys.

Re: MY HEART

Pete branching out is made easier with a little theory, im not advocating time consuming hours of practice I was able to compose this song on piano only because I used basic chord changes nothing fancy cause I didnt study on piano. The changes in this song could be explaned easier by useing the Nashville system for a progression I 5 6 1 3 4 1 5  the song is in F major so converting the numbers to chords it would be F C Dm F, Am Bb F C this repeats this can be transposed to any key, take C major the chords would be C G Am C Em F C G all the numbers are steps in a scale this holds true for any key smile

Re: MY HEART

I am loving this thing, the grand is much better then my old yamaha and even better than the roland I once owned, Pete the piano is not that hard too play I find it is about the same as guitar, you can not beat the price of $100.00. and it has some easy tunes to learn.

Re: MY HEART

dino I have the midi output on the piano connected to my laptop via a usb port I am using the Miroslav philharmonic program I selected Steinway piano and ran a mini stereo Y chord to my BR-8 in's what a wonderful sound it IS a Steinway and all the violins and violas, cellos are authentic sounds, the program costs only $59.00 but if you are not recording then there's no need but I love it :)

Re: MY HEART

hi russ, congrats on the piano. my yamaha has an XG section which gives the original sounds plus tweeks! it also has a split keyboard and dual sounds too. as i've said before i've had it for 5 or 6 years and the midi out is shot, due to moving it about and pulling the connector in and out too much, so be careful of that. there's a whole world to explore in that keyboard, so my advice is to try everything.

oh pete, and dino, when i got my first piano, i just transferred guitar chords using triads (three finger notes) eg; chord of C would be C-E-G. etc. you can add 6ths, 7ths,9ths etc as you like, as a fourth note, left hand plays the bass root. all you need now is rhythm

Ask not what Chordie can do for you, but what you can do for Chordie.

Re: MY HEART

Hi Phill Im very happy with it and I wont be moving it anywhere so no chance of the midi getting messed up,your keyboard sounds great I can see why you hung onto it did you get a chance to listen to the song yet? let me know what you think ok smile

Re: MY HEART

yeah russ, i've listened a couple of times and i cant make my mind up. it could make a good country song with a few tweeks and a bit of acoustic guitar and bass. it's not really what i've become accustomed to with your music; sweet and mellow? i like the chord structure something you always excel in.

i guess i'm not used to russ harding the lovey-dovey composer!!!

please note; russ and i are always straight with one another, there is no offense or criticism meant and we only want the best results from our work.

russ i'm only next door if you want anything, by next door i meant on the next continent, there's only a half second time lag.

it's rough but with great potential

Re: MY HEART

lovey dovey lol when I add the violins, violas and cellos it will take on a classical feel till I bring in the drums, bass and guitar I'm aiming for a classical rock ballad at least thats what I feel for it,the first 8 bars will be solo piano and vocal then I will bring in the string section on the start of the second verse the drums, bass and guitar start I timed the arrangment for around 4 minutes give or take I worked on it for several hours today and deleted everything because I didnt like it tomorrow I will get at it again.keep ya posted on the progress and thanks for your offer of assistance and comments chat later my friend smile
