Topic: check-up
Just got back from M D Anderson (Houston, Tx.) for my 90 day check-up. Spent ALL day Wednesday undergoing different scans (bone, brain, chest) and blood work then meeting with the doctor on Thursday. Got an excellent report back from the kidney cancer sugery and all appears well there. The next problem is that the cancer has affected the lymph nodes around the outside of my lungs and is now in my lungs. The lymph nodes has been shrinking without treatment ever since my surgery and the doctor says that is an excellant sign and that it is very rare for that to happen without any treatment. As far as what is going on with my lungs the doctor says this is a different cancer from your typical lung cancer. Its kidney cancer that has spread to the lungs. Kidney cancer is a treatable disease. Ya'll keep your fingers crossed. M D Anderson has placed me on a "Clincial (sp) Trial" program which give me some free medicine. There has already been great results from this medicine on other trials so things are looking hopeful. This prescription was FREE but since my wife is a pharmacy tech she priced it when she got back to work on Friday. 56 pills has an "over the counter" price tag of $20, 737.00. In 2 months I will have to go bact to Houston for another follow-up.
