I was always under the impression that Kansas was a "Christian" band. Creed is probably the more well-known recent band that espoused "Christian" values...until Scott Stapp backslid.
My firefighter is a cousin of the lead singer of Stryper. When he was 15 (1986 or 87) he went with Stryper as they toured Japan. He told me that, at the time, Stryper acted very un-Christian while on tour.
I knew the former lead guitarist of Stryper. He left the band over their behavior even though financially it cost him dearly to do so.
Was that when they toured with Motley Crue? ON that toure they really got into being rock stars. I cant say I would blame them,,, its a one time shot at being a star, better live it! just dont hide it.
As a matter of fact the whole direction issue was what broke up Kansas. a few wanted to go the church rt, and the others the Arena Rock Rt. My vote would have been with Arena Rock. The clash has a similar dissent. Arena rock (combat rock album) vs more of the reggae punk. Small audiance V/s Big sales.
