Topic: How to use the "Chordie Hijack"

It took me ages to work this out so I have posted some instructions. If anyone spots any errors in these, please let me know.

Chordie Hijack - Part 1 - How to use the Chordie Renderer to format and print your songs
http://ukes4fun.org.uk/2010/08/21/chord … our-songs/

Chordie Hijack - Part 2 - How to "publish"  your own songs using a Chordie Public Songbook:
http://ukes4fun.org.uk/2010/08/21/chord … -songbook/

Hope this is helpful,

Best wishes,

Lizzie

Re: How to use the "Chordie Hijack"

Hi Lizzie,

Your post got me and at least one other Moderator concerned, the words 'Chordie Hijack' rang alarm bells smile, however it is fair use of Chordie.

I will give it a whirl later.

Re: How to use the "Chordie Hijack"

Hi Roger,

I have just realised that where I found the term was in a post that you made, but that you were referring to a different "tweak" :-)

It is the same thread where I found out how to do what I have called the "Chordie Hijack" - oops! :-)

Best wishes,

Lizzie

Re: How to use the "Chordie Hijack"

This is really cool Ms. Mouse - Hopefully folks who have prepared their own song / chord versions could use this information, post songs on their own pages, then request the songs be added to chordie's index by using this form:

http://www.chordie.com/addurl.php

I am sure this post will be useful to many in the future. Thanks for your hard work!

Re: How to use the "Chordie Hijack"

Cheers topdown! :-)

Just hope I have got it all down correctly.

I use Songsheet Generator and some of the formatting directives are non-standard so they don't do too well on Chordie (eg. there is a "footer" directive that is not recognised) but other than that it all went perfectly :-)

I've been to North Carolina BTW - Ashville and Greenville - lovely place!

Re: How to use the "Chordie Hijack"

Hi

Just as an addition I have been using Songbird Chords - part of the Songbird Studio - yes it's free and simple - both of which appeal to me.  It is a chordpro file editor/creator.  Does anybody know if it is compatible with Chordie?

Re: How to use the "Chordie Hijack"

Hi Ian,
I have not used Songbird Studio - have a look here and if what Songbird Studio gobbles up or spits out uses this sort of formatting code then you should be OK:

Re: How to use the "Chordie Hijack"

wow... now that I've had the time to look though this, I may have to give it a try and see if I can follow along with the directions.  Very interesting work you've done here!

Re: How to use the "Chordie Hijack"

Hi "MeKidsMom" if you do have a go, please do let me know if you spot any errors. I have done my own proof-reading and that's not such a good idea :-)

I can easily update the various places I have posted the info.

One of the reasons I wrote it up was that I know a lot of people who use Chordie, very few of them even realised that they could compile their own songbooks from stuff that has been indexed by Chordie.

As a moderator, something that you might be able to clarify is how to edit songs in Chordie. I have come across a few references in the forums to a "green edit button" - I can't find it. Is that something that used to be feature but has been removed?

Best wishes,

Lizzie

Re: How to use the "Chordie Hijack"

The edit button was removed a while ago. Don't know when or if it will be back.

Is anything really made up of zeros and ones??

Re: How to use the "Chordie Hijack"
