Topic: Rock and roll books

I just got Sammy Hagar's RED on the Kendel fire.  About 35% done with it.

Its bold and in your face, sounds like he is talking right with you while having a beer.  Talks about what a control freak Ronnie Montrose was, What an A$$ Sly Stone was,
I have not gotten to the VH years yet.

It is probably in my top 5. Till I finish this is my definate top 4

Life is incredible Jerry!!!!

So is Claptons biography and also Patti Boyd's.

Re: Rock and roll books

I've heard nothing but rave reviews about Life.  It's on my list, for when I get three seconds to read again.

Someday we'll win this thing...

I read Claptons book it was great!,Ron woods of the stones has one out also and it is a very good bio,I really wonder how he and keith richards managed too stay alive after all the abuse there bodys took from booze and drugs.

Re: Rock and roll books

I didn't much care for Clapton's book.  I did like that he was brutally honest about his own misbehaviors, and took responsibility for them.

Re: Rock and roll books

I too was disappointed in Clapton's book, but really enjoyed Keith Richard's "Life". Gave me a whole lotta respect for Keith's musicianship and his relationship with Mick. I've always considered the Stones a more successful but less talented version of The Who, but that book helped level out that opinion.

Re: Rock and roll books

I had a really hard time with his writing style but I loved the story...but Life was much better. I agree.
