Topic: Beatles sons to get together?

An article on yahoo states that James McCartney is trying to get the rest of the Beatle boys together for a new version of the Beatles. I commend James for wanting to carry on his dad's legacy but I think they would end up being a tribute band at best and at worst could draw some unfavorable reactions. I'm sure these are all talented musicians in their own right (I know Zak Starkey is a very sought after drummer) and it would be cool to see these guys get together, but could they live up to all the hype that would go with being the "new" Beatles? I say form your own band,find your own identities and see how it ends up. Maybe do a couple of sets of Beatles songs intermixed with original stuff. I just think that people would expect note for note, dead on performances and if it didn't happen these guys would get so much bad press they wouldn't be able to book a VFW picnic. Any thoughts?    Butch

I agree with the opinions above,there will neve be another band like the beatles,it would be good too see them all toghter and maybe do a couple of beatles tunes as well as there own. I have heard Danny Harrison and he can play well.

ah but! john has two sons; julian and sean, which would be in the band?

also, i have read loads about the beatles and zak never rated the beatles or his dad! he loved kieth moon and the who, who he's played with.

and who would play bass as james seems to play guitar!

i always kind of hoped julian would join paul, george and ringo to replace his dad. now maybe dhanii would have to join too?

all the same, it's a band i'd like to hear just to see if the magic is in the genes.

I much prefer children of famous people to do their own thing and forge their own way.  Hank Williams III, Justin Townes Earl,  Norah Jones, and even Julian Lennon have all done their own thing rather than trying to perpetuate what their parents did. I think that's good.

Someday we'll win this thing...

Jakob Dylan actually uses his fathers last name.Bob Dylan`s real last name is Zimmerman (pretty sure). That is the great thing about Zak Starkey.He doesn`t use the name Starr. Although Jakob Dylan does have his own sound.Not his fathers.

i know sean and julian have made their own original records, now james mccartney has his own band on tour and his own music.

but if your talking about second generation, how about marty wildes daughter kim? i just hope engelbert humperdink hasnt got any kids...one of him is enough.
