Topic: Skype Virtual Jam this week?

So, the weather has been AWESOME even here in NY... but... if all goes well I will have my NEW guitar today (sadly, I will be working when my husband picks it up, but I'm off the next two days.  LOVE).

So anyone up for a virtual Jam this week?  I was actually thinking maybe we could do Friday - I little earlier than we usually do on Thursday nights - to possibly accomidate our friends in the UK.  Perhaps....

Friday 3/23 at 4PM EST

Reminder... to our friends in the UK, if you have not yet turned your clocks ahead an hour (I'm not sure when you do that), you are ONLY 4 hours ahead of us right now and not five, which I believe means that 4PM EST would be 8PM EST for you.  So... what's everyone think?  Anyone in, or are you all going to be out and about having a fun time on the town Friday night?  wink

Wish I could.  I will be somewhere around the Great Valley of Virginia on my way to the Laurel Highlands of Pennsylvania at that time.

Should be able to make it for an hour or two, I think! We change our clocks to BST on Sunday (just BTW). Look forward to hearing that new guitar, Amy!

Re: Skype Virtual Jam this week?

big_smile  I'm in love with it Wayne!  I didn't get it until yesterday however, and haven't yet had a lot of time to play it.  Wed night I sent my husband to check on his mother instead of getting the guitar.  Turns out it was a good choice as she was in the midst of having a mild stroke.  My SON was the one that alerted us all to her seemingly odd behavior and looks.  He is a hero at ALMOST 16!  I'm so proud of him!  Anyhow, I have been a bit busy going back and forth to the hospital to check on her.  I am sooooo looking forward to a little down time with everyone and my guitar this evening!!!!!!!!!!

I hope everything turns out well for your mother in law, Amy.  Hey, great kid you got there.  Good to have around.

Re: Skype Virtual Jam this week?

Many apologies for jumping in and out like a yo-yo last night. I have been having problems since my laptop crashed last weekend and I had to use the hidden partition to put it back to it's original state in 2007. Downloading the updates especially SP1 & SP2 was a nightmare and I even received text messages from Vodafone about my excessive downloads. I am not sure whether it is Skype, my laptop or Vodafone causing the problems, I need to do some more work to find out.

Sorry,

Roger

Re: Skype Virtual Jam this week?

Well, that was a lot of fun! Sorry you had trouble joining us, Roger, but at least we got to hear a couple of songs. Toots has a lot of really funny songs, though I couldn't make out some of the words too well! Very impressed by Joe (BGD), too - one hell of a guitar player! And I think we were all loving Amy's voice - my wife was in the next room and she loved hearing Amy too!

Re: Skype Virtual Jam this week?

I'm sorry to hear about the troubles Roger, but I am glad you were able to make it for a bit.  Paul, we'll have to figure out your camera issue as well.  Perhaps try skyping one on one with someone and see if it works then.  I wonder if it's the group chat itself (although I doubt it since Roger is in a filed using an air card.  Your connection MUST be better than his).

As always, I thank you for the compliments... I just hope to get better with the guitar so it's not just my voice.  wink  Joe gave Alex (mekidsmom_son) a couple pointers, if he follows them, he's going to be surpassing me realllll soon with his playing!  In some ways, he already does.  (what's a scale?  LOL).

It was a NICE evening and I needed it after the very long day (and last few days) I had worrying about my mother in law.  Toots always has the best funny songs, although Joe got pretty close with his green dog... I think.  wink  The hubster was doing a tattoo but insisted I stay in the room so he could hear everyone and took some breaks while I was playing.  Jeff ended up joining Joe and I after I mowed down my pizza ON camera.

By the way, my Mother In Law is now home from the hospital.  We're all a bit shook up and it seems the stroke was worse than originally thought, but without a regular doctor to oversee her, the hospital doctors just seemed interested in making room for another patient.  We're all hoping we can talk her into going to the specialists in Syracuse instead of Utica, but I'm not sure how that's going to go.  She seems quite scared of "the big city".  I'll be pretty busy checking in on her as I'm the one home during the days... but she's only a mile up the road.  So, keep her in your thoughts for a full recovery and no other issues.  I'm not quite ready to take over any family matriarch roles just yet.  This is one strong woman that needs to get back to who she is!!

Re: Skype Virtual Jam this week?

MKM, Thank you for hosting our jam. In spite of life happening around you, you graciously made us Chordie members feel welcome. Our prayers go up for Jim's mom. She must have a tough road ahead.
Alex got cooking on a theme where he was making up lyrics and playing along at the same time. That was impressive. I would like to hear him do more of that. Such a pleasure to hear you, BGD, Norm and Roger. Joey3, can't wait to hear you play for us.
Hope you guys had as much fun as I did. Wonder if it's possible to record these sessions?

Re: Skype Virtual Jam this week?

Toots, I was looking forward to the Jam long before my MIL actually went into the hospital - it was ONE relief of my day.  I'm just sorry I was a little late getting home.  Frankly, if I hadn't stopped for WINE on my way I probably would have gotten to the Jam on time.  But I NEEDED it!  Thanks to all of you for being patient with me!

You know, I can take screen shots, so there MUST be a way to take video screen shots.  I'm going to check into that today and see what I can find out for the next time!!!

Re: Skype Virtual Jam this week?

Alright... I have a program, and tested to see if I could record something off youtube and it worked.  I will probably have to make many small recordings, and edit settings to include my own portion of the jam before doing my own recording, but then I can meld all the little recordings together and throw them up on youtube.  Sounds like a fun little project to work on WHILE hosting the skype.  So... I guess we just need to figure out WHEN we're all going to get tog again.  Any suggestions anyone?  I'm pretty sure I can do next Thrusday (have plans next friday night)... maybe can do a little bit tomorrow if anyone's game, but I do have to work tomorrow night.  Starting next Saturday I'll be working every night for 19 days straight... so we'll have to plan for this week and coming week, and then perhaps BGD or another with a premium can host another.  Let me know what everyone thinks!  smile

edit to add 19 to my days of straight working

Re: Skype Virtual Jam this week?

I have a skype plugin that records...I can record the next one Im on if everyone consents. For my part I'd not do any new songs, only the stuff I have worked on for a while. wink

That was a great time - thanks for hosting Amy!

Re: Skype Virtual Jam this week?

Ok well, I think I'm going to skip today.  After all this stuff with my mother in law, I've managed to run myself into the ground and now have a horrible cold and fever.  I guess this is probably the flu.  I don't know.  BUT... I'm going to try to rest as much as possible today.  Let's shoot for Thursday this week.  I'm open to suggestions on a starting time!

Hey Amy; Hope you get to feeling better!  I have had this for over a week now and it is still just kicking my butt!  I hope yours is a quicker version.
