hello my chordie friends
as a 75 yr old i have been learning the guitar for just over a year now i have bought mysef a fender mustang 150 watt head together wit a bugera 4x12 cab what i would like to know is at the back of the head there are two sockets for fx imputs and two sockets for fx outputs the manual does not say how to use them could someone please tell me.

kindest regards to you all.

john

Re: fx sockets

Does it say fx or effects loop there anywhere? A little more info. It may be for effects. Also, 75 years old and just learning to play. That is absolutely fantastic. I hope the best for you.

Re: fx sockets

many thanks on your comments on my learning i just love it and with so mch time on my hands to be able to play a song is just great.

Re: fx sockets

Re: fx sockets

If you had an external effects processor, that is how you would wire your amp into them.  The amp would send it's signal to the external processor, and the processor would send it back to the amp. Since that head has a stereo effects loop, it has right and left channels.

I gotta say, 150W @ 75 years old is gonna make you the most popular guy on the block.  smile

Re: fx sockets

The jacks are to hook up effects,(distortion, compressor, delay, etc, etc). I have them on some amps but don`t use them. I prefer to go straight from the guitar to the effects to the amp.  Once again, good luck with your playing. Just out of curiosity, what kind of music interests you?

"ps. any tips on what pedals i should buy"

There is a can of worms! LOLOLOLOLOL

I am so impressed as the other to hear of you learning @75!! That is freaking great!  NOT ONLY THAT you by passed pratice amps and went right for teh big boy and the 4x12 .  I LOVE IT!

Effects can be like flowers.   depends on what you want to smell and what flavor you want to play with.

I am gonna guess that with that head, you rally dont need a distortion box,, unless you just want to bump up your signal.

Most on here will tell ya to go to qa guitar center, and start playing around.  They have about everything you could imagin on test stands with guitars hooked up.  There is also YOU Tube.  TONE king shows a bunch of effects and amps.

Hey is it this mustang?  http://www.zzounds.com/item--FEN2300050
If so you have an army of effects just waiting on ya.  play with all the ones loaded on this amp.  The V is the only mustang of that wattage that came up.

Good rocking to ya.  maybe by the time I am 75 Ill be able to play like a pro  only been at it 25 years!LOLOLOL

also look 8 topics down and you will see one titled EFFECTS PEDALS?  Two pages of stuff on that.

Re: fx sockets

I like seperate pedals myself. My daughter has a Line 6 pod. It has a few different effects on it and it is inexpensive. I have a peavey vyper with more bells and whistles than the space shuttle. That way I can try it before I decide to buy. For 50 dollars (used) I can go for a test drive every time I get the urge for a different sound. In the 80s, I wasted a lot of money on effects I didnt need.

Re: fx sockets

hello beamer.
hello joeyjoeyjoe.

many thanks for your reply yes it is the same amp as you asked at the moment i have only used the clean channel by johnny marr the manual that i downloaded from fender website is very sparce it does not go into great detail.
i have to laugh when my daughter visit me with her friends she tells them dont ask my dad to play his guitar.
probably the best thing i can do is forget pedals for the moment the next thing on my list is a proper fender strat in stead of this copy.
many thanks for your kind comments as everyone keeps telling me rock on.
all the very best to you..

John, instead of worrying about your strat being a copy,, just mod it up. its still cheaper.  Have you had it "SET UP"?  Here is a great guy in italy to tell you how to do most of it your self.

But a grate set up will amaze you.    If its the pick ups,, you can buy whole pick guards loaded with upgraded pick ups.

here is a good plac to start  http://www.guitarfetish.com/

and here for comp kits http://www.guitarfetish.com/Pre-Wired-P … _c_25.html or if you want to spen more money http://www.musiciansfriend.com/search/s … ick+guards

well you get the idea.

You've got a pretty powerful modeling amp already.  I'd spend my money on some lessons before I bought any more kit.  Pedals won't do you a whole lot of good right now, and the features of the amp would make most pedals redundant.   If you were going to get any stomp box, I'd get the pedal controller for the amp.
