Topic: Cover songs and Soundclick | Not happening

Holy moley.  $.085 per copy for license fees for each cover song and no idea how many copies there will be.  Forget it.  I'm not going to pay random people to hear songs I've knocked out in my basement.  No stinking way.

Any other options for sharing music?

MySpace for audio or YouTube for video/audio.

I have no idea what you're talking about, but I'm in full agreement.  smile

Youtube works pretty well.  There's a chance that your song could be taken down, but it's fairly slim... especially if you put something in there about how it's for educational purposes and provide some type of education (like the chords used in the song).  smile

Zurf:  I have upoaded thirty songs to soundclick, most of them covers and have never paid anything or had any songs taken down.  I think the key is whether or not you are trying to market, profit and sell your recorded versions.  Me, I just use it to share what I have recorded for others to comment and to help me improve.  I have never, never paid anything!

You are responsible for the number of listens of covers if anyone ever comes calling for that money.  It's in their terms and conditions.
