Topic: Weight Loss Check-in

Well, I got down to 238.4 in July and have stalled since then.  I crept back up to 242 at one point, but am now at 240.  My summer was not as active as I would have liked, but it was plenty busy.  Lots of business, little activity.  So now the leaves have mostly fallen, the temperature has declined, and I have returned to the Demonic Dominator 2000 (30 minutes this morning - it felt good to reset the weight from 255 to 240) and the Chuck Norris Torture Device 1800 (aka Total Gym - which I did yesterday).  I've been having some arthritis pain, so the Total Gym activity has taken a serious step back, but movement is movement.

So that's where I stand.  Another 20 to 30 pounds to lose to hit my goal.  It's a flexible goal for an inflexible guy.

Hang in there Zurf. As we're coming up to time of year when we're all prone to adding a few pounds and the fact that you're having some pain due to arthritis take any weight loss or stabilization as a victory. Take your goals as I am taking mine. One day at a time and each day a victory in itself. Even if you only lose a couple of pounds now or maintain your weight as it is, look forward to the time when you can be more active without all the holiday food to tempt you. I'm pulling for you buddy. Easy on the cake.

Nice man! Keep it up!

Re: Weight Loss Check-in

Yep keep at it Zurf. I wish I had your determination. My goal would be about 50lbs. Not working has really taken
it's toll on me. I need the " Zurfs Guide to Shedding Pounds" !!

It's this: No seconds, One treat per day, Booze is a treat, Treats are allowed only on days you exercise, Weekends don't count, Weekends start mid-afternoon on Fridays.

While I've permitted myself to go crazy on weekends, I find that I don't.  Once you get into the habit of watching what you eat and internalize the trade-off between excessive calories and the work you have to do to get rid of them, it takes care of itself.  I just don't want to beat myself up if I have a second glass of wine on Saturday evening.

Re: Weight Loss Check-in

I have not been watching my treats since July, which is why I had the stall.

Re: Weight Loss Check-in

Hey, that's not too bad really!  I tend to lose weight naturally this time of year myself.  I'm more active when it's cold than when it's warm... heat slows me down I think.  Go rake some leaves and get ready to shovel the snow (no snow?  It's ok, I have a long driveway and will have snow all winter... come on over here and get a little exercise!  lol)

On the other hand, I've made two cakes in two days... am making lasagna tonight along with homemade bread.  What I've lost the past month will likely find itself attached to my backend after this evening.  Don't worry about having a piece Zurf, I'll eat your share and save you!
