Topic: Qui-Bids

Anyone used it?  What was your experience if you did?  Is this a way to save some money purchasing Christmas gifts?  I bought most of my gifts last year from auction sites.

I've tried similar sites in the UK, but quickly lost interest (and some money). It just seems to be another form of gambling, not an auction site at all...

Quibids is a penny auction site. It's basically gambling for products. Huge waste of time, huge waste of money, and the entire industry is currently under investigation by the FTC and a number of state Attorneys General. Run far away.

When all of these first started there were some bargains to be had, but computer intellectuals have now programed computers to bid automatically and they win what they want most of the time.  Some things still can be obtained, but they are mostly the things you probably aren't really interested in.

Most of the sites also have shill bidders and automated bidding systems to ensure that real people never win.

When I saw it was $0.60 to bid, and the way to win was to be the last bidder but there's no way of knowing how to BE the last bidder, my Rip-off-ometer went off. 

Thanks for the updates. 

I'll stick to the regular auction sites, I guess, where the high bidder wins and everyone has an equal shot.  I've gotten some real good deals on those for gifts.  From an inflatable kayak to a car GPS to a Nintendo DS, I've gotten real good (but believable) deals.  I guess when things are too good to be true, they usually aren't true.
