Topic: Strange / Different Cover Tunes
Ran across this Gregorian Chant version of Comfortably Numb. Interesting - and I really dig the violin solo.

Very good, topdown. i really like the sound. I will will keep my eyes peeled for unusual covers.
If what you are looking for is covers that sound exactly like nothing you've ever heard, then we need to jamm again Topdown. Nothing I play sounds anything like "right."

Her you go. It doesn't get much stranger than this. Ozzy Osbourne and Dweezil Zappa covering the Bee Gees song "Stayin Alive" www.youtube.com/watch?v=GOGWWuwJOho Not a Gregorian chant but not much is I just tried the link and it doesn't seem to work. Go to www.youtube.com and do a search for Ozzy with Dweezil Zappa. Again sorry the link didn't work, but thats the joys of technology
Ok... y'all might want to sit down for this and hold onto your hat.. Hayseed Dixie plays Bohemian Rhapsody.

^ Love Hayseed Dixie - every one of their tunes fits this category!

They're no Hayseed Dixie, but they are chickens and penguins and an eagle. I always envied Floyd's musicianship and dedication to the bass.

And those chickens can afford much better cinematography than Hayseed Dixie!

Well I think it's impressive that the guy with the big beard doesn't blink for 3:41.

You can't go wrong with Hayseed Dixie covering Aerosmiths "Walk this way".
A bluegrass version of Allman Brother's "Statesboro Blues".
i love strange or different covers. My motto is,if you want to hear the song exactly as it is done, buy the cd or listen to the radio.I like to take a song and make it mine.Plus it compensates for my shortcomings as a player.Try this one the decembrists covering a Leonard Cohen song.(thats no way to say goodbye)Theres a show on public radio called Highway 61 revisited that plays only covers.WUMB 91.9 in boston-worcester.
Jane's Addiction's cover of "Sympathy for the Devil" is downright awesome. It is a cover of a song that I love, which generally means I don't like the cover, but Jane's really nailed it. It is also on the soundtrack to the 1988 movie Alien Nation, which was also pretty good.
I really like Eric Burdon and the Animals version of Johnny Cash's Ring of Fire...very different but brilliant..so much feeling...

Anytime Zurf - My guitar playin is in the same style -I'm not bad, just unique! You are welcome to jam in my man cave anytime!
Linda Ronstadt,Three Dog Night did nothing but covers.Even the beatles did a lot of covers in the early years. It is refreshing to hear a song done with a different twist. Just a matter of taste I guess.Another good source is Hank Williams Jr.He can take a song and blow it out of the water.
