Topic: C'est la Vie

Just a fun bar song I wrote to help us all thumb our noses at all the economic problems in the world. No matter what happens in this whole money grubbing existance we all will still have to trudge on until we can’t any more.

C'est la Vie By Jeff Gilpin

August 2, 2011

Intro

GDAD

Verse 1

[D]Hello madam hello monsieur

My name is Jeffrey [A]G

I [A]come from the United States

Where everything is [D]free

Well [D]free might be the wrong word

Everything has its [G]price

Some costs - far too [D]much to pay

[A]Some are rather [D]nice

Chorus

C'est la [G]vie, C'est la [D]vie

It’s just the way that life turned out to [A]be

C'est la [G]vie, C'est la [D]vie

It’s [G]just the way that [A]life turned out to [D]be

Verse 2

I’d [D]rather travel far and wide

Than sit on my bum at [A]home

That’s [A]always been my nature see

I’ve always loved to [D]roam

But [D]time to time sometimes I find

I miss my native [G]land

So I go back ‘til I’ve [D]had enough

And [A]then I leave a[D]gain

Chorus

C'est la [G]vie, C'est la [D]vie

It’s just the way that life turned out to [A]be

C'est la [G]vie, C'est la [D]vie

It’s [G]just the way that [A]life turned out to [D]be

Verse 3

Well the [D]US is in the toilet

Europe’s even [A]worse

The [A]dollar buys you nothing

The Euro’s just a [D]curse

But [D]if I win the lottery

I’ll go hid out in the [G]hills

Forget all worldly [D]problems

And for[A]get all worldly [D]bills

Chorus x2

C'est la [G]vie, C'est la [D]vie

It’s just the way that life turned out to [A]be

C'est la [G]vie, C'est la [D]vie

It’s [G]just the way that [A]life turned out to [D]be

Re: C'est la Vie

Thanks Steel and Dino. I was trying to get this tune out of my head so I could get to sleep. With the line "I come from the United States where everything is free" is just how some folks view the US. You know, the land of hopes and dreams but the reality is that the US is far from the place where people can come and easily live out their dreams. Life is getting much more difficult here....but that's life!

Re: C'est la Vie

Thanks Phill - Yeah, we barely got the deal made in time. As for the chinese...I'm already in good practice using my chop sticks so if they ever take over I'll be ready.

Thanks Robert - Very true. I know there are far too many funds being spent on all the conflicts in the world.

Re: C'est la Vie

here's a thought....as rob says "if we get out of these conflicts it would stop the money draining away..." where does it drain to?

the govornments pay for the guns and bullets and tanks rockets etc etc, so the money doesnt just dissapear, it lands in somebody's bank...yes?

so logically (mr spock) someone must be getting richer than the governments, who? arms traders and manufacturers, microsoft, of course. but not us. we the poor only survive to cater to the needs of the rich and aristocratic, (of all nations) we work for them. we get a meagre pay for that work, from which we pay taxes, then we have to buy those same goods we make, and pay tax on them. when they mess up, as they so often do, they put up the price so they can make more profit. then they cut cost, so they can make more profit, by laying workers off. so the sales drop, so they put prices up again. and again...

sorry for the rant, i am not a communist, but then i'm not stupid either, if they reduced prices, we would buy more, wouldnt we? if they reduced taxes we'd have more to spend, wouldnt we? it's called the money go round. what you put in this side comes back out on the other.

if the rich fat cats thought about that instead of lining their own pockets, there would be less of a global crisis?

Re: C'est la Vie

You know Phill, I think you might just have a song or three in you on this very subject....I recommend you make it a country song.  wink

Re: C'est la Vie

If the chinese took us over seems like they would destroy thier economy,we are thier best customer. (that would be better than bullets)

Re: C'est la Vie

hi jeff, food for thought my friend, i'll have to give it some consideration. but seeing as you sugested it, maybe we should make it a collaberation, i'm running out of ideas at the moment, words and music, but i'll see what i can do.

funny how you never see a chunky chinese, but lots of take-away eaters that are...shall we say carrying a few extra egg foo yongs!
