Topic: "Just Chillin"

Howdy,

I been chillin for a couple weeks and I am going back to work for my 14 days on again tomorrow. Lizzie and I took a 3 day motorcycle ride to Sheridan then over the mountain to Powell Wyo from there to Billings Mt. Spent the night there then went to Red Lodge Mt and from there rode the Beartooth Highway on into Cody Wyo and spent the night. From Cody we cruised over to Ten Sleep and then up over the Mountain to Buffalo. We are blessed to be so close to some of the most beautiful country in the world.

I didn't have a guitar along so beings we were in Buffalo , I dropped in the antique store and visited a friend I met a few weeks back. She owns and operates the Antique store and always has a couple guitars on hand. She brought 2 chairs and I sat down with her and we started out with "Will the Circle Be Unbroken" all the while lots of customers milling around the store , some singing along others smiling and tappin their feet. We played " Don't think Twice", Mr. Bojangles, Pancho & Lefty, Ghost Riders, Tecumseh Valley. When she had to help a customer I just kept on playin and singin. She would join back in with no problem. She is a great rhythm player and it was just as fun as the last time I stopped.

CC the Gal that  owns the store, told me last time I was there about a Jam session they have every thursday at an old Historic Hotel "The Occidental" . Lizzie and I had checked it out a week before and it was really something. I had brought my guitar but we were a little late getting there and could barely get in the door. So we just sat back and enjoyed some great music by, Guitar, upright Bass , Harmonica , Fiddle , Banjo, mandolin and even an old piano. CC told me the "Discovery Channel" was filming the last Jam session and I will be looking for it .

One more thing I recently purchased the new Gillian Welch CD and it is worth the money, very good Harmonies and wonderful guitar playing by her partner David Rawlings. Just 2 folks with guitars and great voices..............

Re: "Just Chillin"

Glad to hear your summer is going well Wayne!  Sounds like a nice relaxing time hanging with the loves of your life (Lizzie and Guitars of course).  You keep taking good care of yourself and don't work too hard!  smile

Re: "Just Chillin"

Gillian Welch can pick. Enjoyed the link, sir.
Sounds like you guys had a fine trip together.
My wife no longer gets on my motorcycle or our sailboat. Says she's too old. I'm not ready to embrace that rocking chair just yet.

I have finally found happiness in my life.  Guitars, singing, beer and camping.  And they all intertwine wonderfully.

Sounds like a right good summer.
