Topic: Living with "approximately equal to"

I have been driving automobiles for over three decades. I drive a Ford Taurus. I am confident my driving skills could warrant a “better"  car but economics and good sense keep me comfortably ensconced in the Taurus.

I have been teaching myself how to play the guitar for 2 and half years. I own three guitars. All of them, more or less, are “knock-offs"  of better-known, American-made guitars.

For your consideration:

Seagull S6 Mahogany Spruce ≅ Martin DM or Larrivee D-02
Cort L450C NS ≅ Martin 00-15M
Silver Creek T-160 ≅ Martin 000-18V

My guitar skills do not warrant “better"  guitars but, like my automobile, economics and good sense keep me comfortably ensconced in knock-offs. And I’m okay with that.

p.s. "=" doesn't mean equal but maybe "approximates". The symbol I used in Word while developing this post has the "approximately equal to" symbol. When I pasted it here it arrived as "=".

I always say I play cheap guitars because while I have a $10,000 head, I only have $10 hands.  smile

OK it is my "consideration" that Seagull, Cort, and Silver Creek are all quite good guitars.....  at least as best as my memory serves (having laid hands on examples of all three).  Not to say anything bad about Martin, but knowing that there are some "dyed in the wool" fans out there, I wasn't all that impressed.  Not that it's a poor quality, just not a "good fit" for me, the neck just doesn't feel right.

For me, money falls out of the equation, if it doesn't sound or feel right.... it's staying in the store.  Like Gerome hints, a $10,000 guitar isn't gonna make me a better player..... only practice will do that, and it's economical.

I've spent a considerable amount of time recently verifying what I already knew. 1. I have GAS. 2. I like new guitars. 3. But my current line-up is more than sufficient in exhausted what little talent I have. 4. I am getting better at playing. 5. I am no where near being ready to play in front of others. 6. I love learning.

If you wish to add songs to the index, please refer to a sticky in the About Chordie section.  There is also additional information in the resources tab on the home page.  Each catagory in the forum has a section at the top of the posts highlighted, which are called sticky because they will always stick to the top of the section.  They contain helpful hints that may assist you in getting the most out of your Chordie Experience.
