Topic: A Garden in Leeds

Thanks to Phill Williams for starting me off. I was going to try and write something folksy, but it ended up being more upbeat, almost rockabilly. Give it a try and see what you think. This is my first Leeds song. I’ve only been there once, and that was to Elland Road so I missed seeing most of the area. Leeds United had a 2-0 win over Spurs back in the late 90s. I hope to get back one day and see more.

Re: A Garden in Leeds

It's so... I dunno how to describe it. It tells a story so well. Nice one Jeff. smile

"Where you begin doesn't matter. Your willingness to start is what counts."
Without music life would be a mistake.
Country music is three chords and the truth.

Re: A Garden in Leeds

Thanks Steel and Daddy -Robert -Leeds will have another year in the Championship after coming close to promotion this past year.
Steel - I've been trying to work on my songwriting. I'm also fond of storytelling and that comes out in my music sometimes.

Re: A Garden in Leeds

hi jeff,

all corners covered here, leeds, gardening and an ode to lost love. a story well told. i went to leeds once too, they called time at 10.30 and you had to drink up and be out by 10.40, very rude i thought, so i never went there again.
but the most surprising part of the song was that it stopped raining long enough for you to plant seeds?

lol phill

Ask not what Chordie can do for you, but what you can do for Chordie.

Re: A Garden in Leeds

Thanks Ark and Phill

I seem to remember quite a bit of rain there myself...the pubs were kinder around Molesworth Village but lack the football.

Re: A Garden in Leeds

Hi Jeff

Good imaginative storytelling. smile
Will you be playing this at the Chordie get-together this weekend? If so I hope it gets taped so we can hear how it plays.

Nice Work

Re: A Garden in Leeds

Thanks Kenny - sorry you can't make it down by the way.
I plan to do many of my songs and most all of my new ones. There should be video cameras all over the place so I'm pretty sure we'll have a copy. I also might just do my cover of your song Goodbye Billy Walker which I like.

Re: A Garden in Leeds

Hi Jeff smile

I'm flattered and looking forwards to seeing and hearing my song done by someone else. Good to hear there will be lots of camcorders around....Should be lots of great vids coming up.
Maybe next year I can make it down.

Enjoy your weekend, wobbly pops and fishing but most of all the new friends you'll meet.

Cheers smile
