Topic: I bought a drum set today

I finally bought a drum set for the music room.Why Joey you ask.Its simple.I dont want anyone leaving any of their equipment at my house.If it gets damaged or stolen,I will be obligated to pay for it.If my house burns and only my equipment burns,I would be heartbroken but I wouldnt owe anybody else for damage.Also gabbytrout has a band starting with her friends also.A drumset is rather hard to carry.I guess us guitarists have it lucky.We can throw a guitar in the car and call it good.Or a guitar,amp and a shopping bag with cords and effects.Still easier than drums.Now I have enough toys to supply a band with instruments.Yes I feel good.It felt good calling the drummer and telling him next time just bring your sticks.Happy 4th and good night to all of you.

I pay.Then if my house burns,I will lose a lot more than a bunch of instruments.

Nice.  If I ever get a larger house, I'll likely buy a set of electronic drums and probably some percussion things (congas, bongo, djembe, etc.).  My kids go to the music store and have a great time on the drum sets.  My eldest has wanted to play drums for a long, long time, but I keep telling her that she needs exposure to the rudiments of music (beat, time, scales, etc.) before she can take on something as complex as drumming.  She's going to piano camp this summer, so if she takes to piano and shows some good left hand work, then drums are a strong possibility sometime in our future. 

Check back in and let us know how it goes.  Especially Gabbytrout's band.  There's not much more exciting than hearing or seeing your kids express themselves artistically.

I can pass on the drums, but can certainly see your point of having everything right there.  I guess that is why I enjoy the acoustic so much.  Just drag it along and start playing.

hey jjj, thats a good thing, when I used too get tired of playing my guitar I would go over too the drum set and had some fun. Had too get rid of them though or the neighbors would try too get rid of me.

my mother gave me some good advice i wish i'd listened to; she said "play the mouth organ, it's lighter"
honestly, i've always found drummers to be the laziest and most selfish members of the band. the drums are always the last to go into the van "cos theyre delicate!" so everyone helps carry them into the hall, then while the rest of you are struggling and sweating carrying the amps and pa in, he's setting up cos it "takes longer to set drums up" coblers!!!! then they get drunk play too loud and sometimes even fall asleep halfway through a song. how can anyone fall asleep while playing "summertime blues?" beats me. give me a drum box any time....lol

congrats on buying a kit though, nothing like bashing a drum to relieve your frustrations when the drummer dont turn up...i love drummers really

I only own them.I bought them for others to use.I really have no desire to play the things.Mainly when other drummers want to play.I can say that I have a kit they can use.Although I did fool around a little with them.Probably have a better chance to be the next Buddy Rich than the next Carlos Santana  HA HA HA
