Topic: Gravity by John Mayer

I have seen the chords to John Mayer's song "GRAVITY" There are a couple of tricky chords in his version in the root key of "G". I would like to transpose the root from "G" to "E" and can't quite figure out the chords. They use Gm and Fmaj7. What would these translate to in the key of "E"?

Thanks

em and Dmaj7. But I'd love to see the arrangement you're playing because I think those chords may be wrong, unless I'm not remembering the song correctly. smile

I think those chords are wrong.

Do you know what they should be?

Actually there are a couple of pretty good tutorials out there on youtube, you might take a look at this one and the second in his series that covers the lead as well:  www.youtube.com/watch?v=pvOYBO2_eTw&feature=related

The only change I could see in his rendition is subbing the D7 (alternate fingering) where a D9 seems to fit better, and a D13 after the EbMaj7.

Pretty straightforward and not too difficult to follow.
