Hi there, I play guitar through a 30w amplifier and my mic is via a Boss BR532 digital studio and a couple of small powered speakers. The whole setup is in a bedroom and, despite moving the speakers up high, I cannot totally get rid of feedback. Someone has suggested replacing the speakers with some larger ones, maybe 100w / channel, do you think this would solve the problem and what powered speakers would you recommend? (not too expensive) Thanks, Rollernut.
What type of guitar are you playing? If it's acoustic you can fix it with a sound hole cover. If it is semi or full hollow you could find foam hole fillers that cut the feedback. If it is solid it could take a number of things to get it right but an eq pedal would be a good place to start. Hope this helps and good luck.
Thanks for your reply, I'm playing a solid electric (handmade) so a soundhole cover isn't the solution. Could you explain more about an eq pedal please.
Its probably the mic feeding back, not the guitar. Are you standing in front of the speakers or do you typically play seated?

Well I'll give you my thoughts on the eq pedal since I don't actually use one. They are used to adjust the individual frequencies meaning that you can adjust the bass, miss or highs to a level that sounds better in the mix of what you are playing. You could be getting too much high frequency vibrations from your guitar that could lowered with the pedal and kill the feedback. Maybe a youtube search will give you a better idea. I hear alot of players use these pedals to tighten or loosen their tone.
This may sound like a flip answer but it is not: Have you tried lowering the volume of the amp? When I got my A/E with the amp I had no experience with amps. The first time I used it I was getting a lot of feedback. After fiddling with the controls on the amp and the guitar I realized that if I kept the amp volume low and controlled the volume with the guitar I had no feedback.
