Topic: DANGIT!!! I shoulda known....

I find out on tuesday that I have my first PAYING gig this friday night.
So I have been practicing my licks and songs and chops and everything and I'm feeling like I'm READY!

Today I come back from lunch (practicing more) and someone has jacked up the air conditioning and I CANNOT get it to shut off or warm up. So I'm fooling with this thing and going back to my desk and freezing my bones off...going back and forth and nothing is changing.

*GRRR*

So I go to the utility closet and get the ladder and cover the vent with paper, tape and plastic.
I sit down to my nice warm cubicle and .......

.
ACHOO!!!
*Sniffle*

I'm officially sick...

Congrats on your first paying gig Detman!  You'll make it, and the cold will disappear one way or another (cold medicine is a wonderful thing).  I had a solo for a chorus concert one year in high school... I was beginning to lose my voice that week!  Magically, when the big day came I was able to sing the song and it sounded great.  I'm SURE you'll do fantastic!

Detman..  as someone who suffers from such things as asthma and chronic bronchitis..I've had gigs where I could barely talk without coughing and hacking..  but, its like it all goes away once I get up there and start playing and singing..  then, at break time..  the coughing and hacking start over..  can't explain it but I'm happy about it..  like Zurf said.. the show must go on..

Hey everyone!

The gig went GREAT!! Once I got up there and let the keyboardist intro the song the adrenaline kicked in and I couldn't feel any sickness at all. In fact, my nose didn't start running until the break. Then I ran to the bathroom real quick and took some cold medicine for the second half. 4 hours and I made more than I make at my day job in that time!

Everyone was so friendly to the band too! It's like everyone wants to talk to you and find out about you and compliment you. I had a bunch of people ask me about my guitar and if I was available for other things. I about said yes to everyone and passed my number out like it was going out of style.

I could reeeeeeeally get used to this.

Thank you all.
I wish I could have gotten some of it recorded.
I brought the wife and son with me and they had a good time as well. The wife didn't think that she would enjoy herself but I believe that it helped her understand a little better.
